While constantly making controversial content, Amouranth has always been able to dodge the ban, until last month. Amouranth was banned for inappropriate ASMR content for a few days. However, it didn't slow her down at all. Recently, during a stream with H3H3, she revealed that it was actually her best month as she earned $1.1 million (~ Rs 8.1 crores).

Also, she mentioned that this money was from a source that is not Twitch. There is a high chance that this was her earning from her OnlyFan account, where people subscribe and pay money to see her exclusive content.

Twitch cracks down on ASMR streams

For starters, Indiefoxx and Amouranth were pouring their efforts into the “ASMR Meta” category to gain revenue and popularity.

In general, this is not a problem as Twitch is open to everybody. We know of streamers using this tag for the contents like whispering, reading, tapping fingernails,… However, the two good-looking streamers among lots of others started abusing this privilege for their own good. This was in turn hurting genuine and small-time ASMR content creators.

In fact, this is not the first time Amouranth got banned on Twitch.

There is probably a division of opinions on whether the platform should be policing, while Indiefoxx and Amouranth’s bans were the result of abusing Twitch’s privilege instead of violating the rules intrinsically.

Considering the fact that the platform has grown big over time, filling it under the name of pseudo-ASMR content poses a conflict with the authentic parameters.

Needless to say, the restriction is certainly not permanent so streamers like Indiefoxx and Amouranth will need to return to other appropriate sections, or else they would have to face more bans in the time coming.

All in all, the genre of content that gets produced was not the issue. It is because the streamers have piggybacked on the ASMR meta to get more income and views.

Streamlabs, a leading live streaming service, recently released a report that shows just how dominant Twitch is compared to its biggest competitors.

Twitch, YouTube and Facebook Gaming: the numbers

There are several big players in the online streaming market. Facebook Gaming and YouTube have been trying to take over Twitch’s number one spot for years, but it doesn’t look like Twitch is going anywhere anytime soon. For the second quarter in a row, the Amazon-owned streaming platform has broken the record for most-watched hours in one quarter: 6.3 billion hours watched in Q1, compared to 5.4 billion hours watched in the previous quarter. That’s an increase of 16.5%.

Twitch represents over 72% of the live streaming market share in terms of viewership. In second place is YouTube Gaming Live, which attracts around 15.6% of the viewers. The third-biggest platform is Facebook Gaming with 12.1% of the viewers. Facebook has closed the viewership gap to YouTube Gaming significantly over the last year, but both platforms have a long way to go to reach the numbers of Twitch.

Here are some of the key numbers for Twitch from Streamlabs’ Q1 report:

• The “just chatting” category now accounts for 12% of all the traffic on Twitch.
• Viewers watched nearly one billion more hours of content on Twitch in Q1 compared to the previous quarter.
• Streamers broadcast 35 million more hours in Q1 compared to Q4.
• The number of unique channels reached an all-time high in Q1 (12.5 million unique channels).
• Average concurrent viewership increased more than 19% in Q1.

Most popular game categories on Twitch

One of the things that set Twitch apart from its competitors is the sheer number of channels and categories that is available on the platform. No matter the time of the day, users can visit the website or launch the app and scroll through thousands of live channels in a large variety of categories. Twitch is primarily a gaming streaming platform, but other categories such as just chatting have gained a lot of popularity over the last couple of years.

Another category that has become popular in recent years is the gambling category. The first gambling streams started to pop up around five years ago, and now there are thousands of them. For each subscriber, 10 seconds will be added to the total stream time Legwig needs to do. The streamer at first thought that it would end within just 24 hours at most. Yesterday, Ludwig's stream has come to an end with 31 days in total. But it wasn't because people stopped subbing to him, it was because he put a cap of 31-days on it, or else it will actually never end. Ludwig is now the most-subscribed streamer on Twitch with more than 282,000 subscribers, beating the record of Ninja in 2018.

Triciaisabirdy then decided to stop her stream until the police appeared to arrest the bad guy. It was lucky that the brave streamer didn’t have to deal personally with him because her friends were present to save her.

After ending the stream as required, Triciaisabirdy recorded the bad guy on her phone while her friends tried to control him. The video showed that the intruder wasn’t seemingly conscious. He couldn’t stop screaming on the table and threatening everyone while the streamer and her friends attempted to make him calm down.

Triciaisabirdy then wrote on Twitter that the intruder was arrested by the police and no one got hurt. More notably, she revealed that he insisted that the female streamer was a princess and all that he tried to do was to rescue her.

It is obviously a bad experience when being threatened in your own house. Triciaisabirdy then sent a bunch of thanks to her friends who were willing to help her in such a situation, as well as fans who always support her. Although she still feels panic, she said it is good that everyone is fine and hoped that no one would have the same experience as her.

During his 7-hour sleep, he allows his viewers to make donations in order to interrupt his sleep. Andy has the text-to-speech recognition system on so whenever there is a donation, there will loud music and the message will be read out loud.

His viewer sure loving seeing him wake up time after time as they send him loud music, dog bark sound, alarm sound, and control his Alexa to make weird noises. At the end of the stream, Andy got a total of Rs 11 Lakh.

Tfue is the second Twitch streamer to cross 10M followers

A few days ago, the streamer celebrated his achievement by sharing it on his Twitter handle. Apart from receiving congratulations from fans, the 23-year-old streamer is also recognized by his streamer counterparts and teammates.

In fact, the streamer was in the middle of his Minecraft stream that he realized the 10M milestone had been hit. To celebrate the victory, he chucked a beer with his partner TheDuckManX before going back to the game.

By reaching 10M followers on Twitch, Tfue has carved his name as the second most followed streamer on Twitch while the 1st title goes to Ninja with 16,7M followers by February 2021. While it might take a long time to catch up with Ninja, Tfue is being followed by Shroud who is only 1M followers lesser than him. Hope that he can keep up with the good work and rack up more viewers in the future.

Just like Ninja or Shroud, Tfue was shot to stardom as a skilled Fortnite streamer. He also joined team FaZe and hit victories continuously. However, due to the disagreement with FaZe treatment, the streamer left the clan and worked as an independent streamer. The controversy took a long time to be settled but the streamer was highly appreciated for staying away from all the negative arguments.

The streamer in question is KillaMfCam, a familiar face on Twitch. On a live stream on February 15, he was taken down in Escape From Tarkov by another gamer called Frizzable, leading to his uncontrollable anger. Right after that, Frizzable, as well as many other viewers, accidentally heard the streamer yelling at his son who started to cry in the same room.

Accordingly, KillaMfCam even threatened to snap his son’s neck and kick the child out of his room. No need to say how shocked the netizens felt when hearing what he said to his son.

"Stop f*****g s***ting yourself, dude! How hard is that? Jesus Christ, man. God damn you stupid, motherf****r. I f*****g hate you, dude. Get the f**k out of my room, bro. Get out. I'm gonna break your f*****g neck, dude."

Frizzable then revealed the clip of KillaMfCam’s abusive behaviors on Twitter. KillaMfCam’s Twitch channel was then flooded with criticisms. No one can accept his violent behavior towards his son. More ironically, KillaMfCam used to introduce himself on his Twitter bio as an “Aspiring gamer, single father of a beautiful 3yr old.” Not long after, Twitch issued a ban on this streamer and his all channels were also blocked.

However, the gaming community believes that despite Twitch’s immediate move, streamer KillaMfCam definitely deserves more severe punishment. Some say that he should be prosecuted for his child abuse.

It’s not the first time the netizens have witnessed such mistreatment of children on this popular streaming platform. One month ago, another Twitch streamer called buckkerz shocked the Internet when screaming at his baby on his stream. His Twitch account was then suspended, and he also removed his other accounts on social networks.
