Tfue is the second Twitch streamer to cross 10M followers

A few days ago, the streamer celebrated his achievement by sharing it on his Twitter handle. Apart from receiving congratulations from fans, the 23-year-old streamer is also recognized by his streamer counterparts and teammates.

However, it was not the reason InvaderVie is in the headlines over the past week. While being on a casual chat with her Twitch viewers, the stunner sparked the controversy for begging donations from her viewers. After explaining that “$20 is not a big deal” and it’s not what she was asking for, the streamer suggested for a $10 which every Twitch streamer is “expected to have”. Her rant continued as he kept asking for $5 dollar and ‘whatever in your currency”.

However, it wasn’t the thing which took the internet by storm. On top of it, InvaderVie mocks her views saying that if they don’t have at least $10, they should be working instead of watching her stream. In addition to that, she addressed them as “cheap stakes” and “immature children.”

Rs 470 crore is a large sum of money but with a damaged reputation, he might not be able to ink similar deals in the future. So if this is true, Ninja’s decision is entirely driven by business reasons - refusing Rs 470 crore to have the leverage for bigger deals.

Ninja revealed the breaking news on his Twitter account with more than 0.6 crores of followers. He said he removed this app off all of his devices. He also hoped that another company that interferes less with user data and doesn’t come from China can rebuild the concept of sharing videos like TikTok.

For those unknown, Ninja used to be the streamer with the largest number of viewers on Twitch - Amazon’s live streaming platform. However, in August 2019, the talented guy gave up everything to sign a new contract with Microsoft to start working on the Mixer platform.

Until June 22, Microsoft suddenly closed this platform and released the contract for Ninja. In other words, this streamer will have to reconsider his plan in the upcoming time, including the plan to return the “old land” - YouTube.

Back to the main topic, Ninja’s TikTok boycott is obviously easy to comprehend and it’s not exaggerated for him to criticize this app for interfering user data much more than other social networks such as Facebook or Twitter. Early this week, the US government stated that they have considered banning TikTok in this nation, like what India has done in the previous time.

In an interview with Fox News on July 06, the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the US government must ban TikTok to prevent dangers relating to the national securities. He also warned that people should pay more attention to downloading and using this app because their data can completely be gathered and followed by the Chinese government.

And then, US President Donald Trump also had a talk that didn’t seem much related: a ban on TikTok in the United States is considered as a punishment towards China due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

In other words, TikTok denied the allegations relating to collecting user data. Additionally, this app has tried to become more standalone and different from the original version in China (Douyin).

According to TikTok’s representative, the company has been led by an American CEO, and hundreds of employees and leaders always comply with the security regulations, products, and public policies in this country. Its highest target is to create a safe environment and experience for users. The company has never provided and will never provide their data for the Chinese government, even when being required to do that.

Despite not available in China, TikTok has been considered as the international version of Douyin - the hottest app in the most populous country in the world.

Ninja is one of the most popular streamers in the world, who has broken multiple Twitch records and then moved to Mixer for a multi-million dollar deal. But with the recent failure of Mixer, Ninja was forced to move away to another streaming platform and he chose Youtube over returning to Twitch.

On his return to streaming, Ninja easily hit 167 thousand viewers on his first stream. At the same time, MortaL was also streaming and he learned about the return of Ninja on Youtube. MortaL was super surprised by the number of viewers he got so, as a nice gesture to welcome the "newbie" streamer Ninja who just came to the platform, MortaL sent his viewers to Ninja stream.

MortaL's fans then started flooding Ninja's chat with MortaL RAID spam, which quickly caught the attention of the streamer. However, as Ninja has never heard of MortaL before, he was confused and wondered if MortaL was a streamer or MortaL RAID was just a meme that he didn't know about.

Ninja coming back to streaming is huge news for the streaming world. His viewership on Mixer has been really low compared to what he got on Twitch since nobody likes Mixer. However, Youtube streaming has been around for quite some time and maybe it is actually the perfect platform for him since he already got a really big Youtube channel already.

Yesterday, popular streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins started his first livestream on YouTube since Microsoft’s streaming platform Mixer was announced to be shutting down soon. That decision from the US-based giant fueled speculation about what will be the next platform for Ninja to stream.

Ninja’s first-ever livestream on YouTube attracted more than 100,000 viewers. However, he didn’t reveal anything about his future streaming plans, nor did he announced his partnership with YouTube. In comparison, the 1vs1 TDM showdown between CarryMinati and MortaL in March was seen by more than 200,000 viewers on CarryMinati’s channel while MortaL also attracted over 180,000 viewers to his stream.

Before leaving for Mixer under an exclusive contract, Ninja made a name for himself for playing Fortnite on Twitch. However, Microsoft announced last month that it was partnering with Facebook for livestreaming and shutting down its own livestreaming service Mixer. Therefore, streamers who had contracts with Mixer was offered to negotiate new deals with Facebook, but Ninja turned down that offer. After shutting down July 22, Mixer will merge with Facebook Gaming, and those who visit Mixer will be redirected to Facebook’s streaming platform.

“I love my community and what we built together on Mixer,” said Ninja on his tweet after Microsoft announced Mixer’s closure. “I have some decisions to make and will be thinking about you all as I make them.”

Shortly after the tweet, Ninja updated his Twitch page and added information about Riot’s new FPS game called “Valorant” that he already streamed on Mixer. According to esports insider Rod “Slasher” Breslau, Ninja hasn’t signed an exclusive deal to any platform yet and it is unlike that any of those major platforms want to sign a big deal considering the world is going through heavy impacts of the COVID pandemic. 

Yesterday, Ninja accidentally posted a test stream on YouTube, and minutes later, it was made private. This hints at the possibility of him moving permanently to Google's video-sharing platform and is testing its service.

According to Jessica Blevins, Ninja’s wife, and also manager, an official announcement will come this week. There are speculations that this might be about Ninja’s exclusive streaming deal.

In an interview with Business Insider in October last year, Ninja said his contract with Twitch was too restrictive, which prevents his reach outside of the gaming field.

This deal with Ninja may set YouTube back big time. According to CNN, Microsoft paid him between $20 million (Rs 2 crore) and $30 million (Rs 3 crore) to stream on its platform Mixer.

YouTube has already had deals with a handful of famous streamers like Valkyrae and CouRage of 100 Thieves. YouTube’s presence in the gaming field is being reinforced. In 2019, it announced the merger of YouTube Gaming and the main YouTube app, which has nearly doubled viewership for the category.

Between Q1 and Q4 of 2019, the gaming arm of the world's largest video platform saw an increase of 46% in viewership. The change could be felt after the third quarter when the app was merged with the main site. Facebook Gaming’s viewing hours also grow but it still has a hard time competing with YouTube, which has around 2 billion users each month.

It is true most of the viewership on the platform comes from non-gaming and on-demand videos, but it doesn’t mean the platform has no standing in gaming. YouTube creators do more than just duplicate what makes them successful on Twitch. They are now exploring the on-demand culture of the platform to diversify their content.

Last fall, YouTube held its first summit dedicated to streamers and introduced moderation tools to tackle harassment, including the AutoMod feature, which leverages AI to identify suspect messages.

Microsoft’s streaming service, Mixer, is going to be shut down after four years of abysmal performance. While it is actually the second most popular streaming service on the internet, with four million unique channels, Mixer hasn’t really grown, as in the one year period between April 2019 and April 2020, it gained only 0.2% of traffic. Looks like Microsoft’s attempt to buy out the top streamers from Twitch has yielded no result… at all.

However, in order to cut their losses cleanly, Microsoft has announced a partnership with Facebook Gaming along with the shutdown of Mixer. With this, their contracts with some of the top streamers pretty much get nulled – chief amongst them are Ninja and Shroud, whose combined audiences reached over four million, accounting for 90 million total views.

They are now free to go to whichever platform they wish, but it is likely that they are just going to come to Twitch. In the past, the Microsoft buyout has reduced its audience to just a portion of what it was previously, in exchange for a 30 million dollar payout. The winner here is probably those streamers – they only have to fulfill their contracts for less than one year.

This announcement of Microsoft has been met with surprise from most people on Mixer, as they have just spent a massive amount of money trying to revitalize the site. The platform was previously integrated with Xbox, giving users the ability to stream from their consoles – with the new partnership with Facebook gaming, it is likely that FG would replace mixer to be the integrated streaming flatform of Xbox services.

During a PSG game when Neymar couldn't play over an injury, he went up the stands to meet with one of his favorite streamers, Ninja. He was nursing an injury at the time but could still walk up to see the Fortnite streamer at the Parc des Princes stadium, before giving him a hug.

You can tell by his reactions that he was excited to meet with Ninja, and greeted him as any fan would towards their favorite celebrity. The two even had a Fortnite gaming event back in December 2018.

A shift in Fortnite's meta
