Resident Evil is one of the earliest Zombie Shooter franchises – the first game was released in 1996. More than 20 years have passed and Resident Evil still managed to retain interest despite the everchanging video game market.

In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the top 5 best Resident Evil games to play in 2022.

1. Resident Evil 2 (Remake)

Resident Evil 2 Remake is what other developers should aspire to when creating a remake. It is hands down the best remake I have ever played.

This game is by far more terrifying than anything I remember playing in third grade. Parts in the original that have been implanted into my cerebral cortex out of sheer terror back then have now manifested themselves into brand new nightmares thanks to the modern revamp of the game's engine with the graphics being some of the most realistic horrors I've seen even in Hollywood movies. I'm on my third or fourth playthrough and I still scream like a little girl at parts. The game is terrifying. Between lickers popping out of vents, the 15-foot terminator known as Mr. X chasing you all over the place, zombies behind doors, in lockers to WHATEVER THE HELL those things in the sewers are... it's enough to give you a glimpse into quite possibly, what Hell is.

Iconic cutscenes, boss introductions, and other favorite parts have been altered or changed in a way that keeps the game fresh but still so grounded to its core roots. Giving new players a great and new experience while giving the veteran players something to smile at in nostalgia. Perhaps one of my favorite things in this game is the dismemberment. Really gives you that dead space sense of cutting your enemies down to a meat sack of nothing before pumping a few more rounds into their heads to make sure they're not getting back up.

1. Resident Evil Village

Resident Evil Village is a first-person shooter survival horror developed by Capcom. The game is set in the present time, three years following the events of RE 7. Once again, the player assumes the role of Ethan Winters, who, after an unfortunate series of events, finds himself separated from his family and stranded in a remote Romanian village. Here, he will set himself on a journey to save his family and, at the same time, survive the dreadful and unforgiving place.

Gameplay-wise, this title is beyond excellent. From frantic combat to exciting exploration, everything is fluid, well-crafted, and entertaining. Once again, Capcom opted to deviate a little from their last iteration and give Village a more significant focus on the action. At first, I was slightly skeptical about it, as the last thing I wanted was this to be just another mediocre title, with some cheap Michael Bay-style sort of action segments and uninspired gameplay — yes, I’m talking to you, RE 6. Though, to my surprise and satisfaction, it wasn’t anything like that.

In Village, they flawlessly attained the precise equilibrium between action and horror, essentially creating the perfect incorporation of RE 4 and 7 into one. Hence, even if you are not fond of this slightly more action-focused turn the game took, you shouldn’t be all worried; because, in the end, the game still manages to be a true survival horror, truthful to its roots.

The game’s heavy, bleak, and terrifying atmosphere is remarkable. Wandering within the various bewildering and interconnected rooms of Castle Dimitrescu, exploring decrepit sheds, and running in the claustrophobic corridors of a colossal factory definitely felt like a dose of adrenaline. At all times, I couldn’t help but feel this eerie and disturbing feeling of vulnerability and anxiety — always expecting a jump scare or something of the sort at every turn and corner.

3. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard

Resident Evil 7 didn't lie about it "returning to the roots". The aura of the original Resident Evil is everywhere in this game, plus it doesn't shine away from the classic fans pondering with reenactments of some memorable moments from the first game.

First of all - this is a game. Not a walking simulator, as some people thought it would be. It's 100% a game and the gameplay is wonderful. Gunplay is very satisfying. Resources are incredibly limited (played on the Madhouse right away) and enemies are fast and can catch up to you even if you are running. Since this is a "classic" RE - killing is optional unless it's a boss. You can run and dodge past everything. Even on the Madhouse.

Design-wise this game shines as well. As this is a classic RE - a lot of backtracking is to be expected, but it's implemented so perfectly that you don't even feel like it's backtracking. There's constantly something new in the old locations. They change their looks. Enemies appear/disappear. With newfound keys, you can get a whole different perspective on navigating through the locations.

4. Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4 marked a turning point in the franchise, as it was the first game in the core series that left behind many of the gameplay elements of its predecessors to bring something fresh by introducing mainstream third-person shooter mechanics.

With this unique duality, RE4 tries to satisfy both the older RE gamers and the newer console-player generation. Both worlds get something—the old-school fans a myriad of smaller recurring elements like typewriter save spots, whereas the more action-craving players can enjoy the weapon upgrade and New Game+ system—but this double nature came with brand new problems.

These problems affect old-school players more, as they may find RE4 more of an action game with its linear levels and generous random item drops (except on Professional mode). Action gamers fare better, as their only problem may be the ancient tank controls, which did not really translate well to 3D.

The brilliance of RE4 lies in its balance. It is clunky as a shooter, but not clunky enough to be uncomfortable for too long. It tends to spawn enemies everywhere, but not in such numbers that the player cannot enjoy some of the level design and atmosphere. No wonder that those whose first Resident Evil was this game remember it fondly to this day. The others… well, they may prefer the purer survival horror of Resident Evil REmake or the better shooter gameplay of Resident Evil 5 instead. Still, if they want to combine both worlds, they can always come back to this classic that probably will never get completely old.

5. Resident Evil HD

This game is true horror. It completely nails the horror genre in every possible way. The gameplay will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The controls will take some getting used to if you are not used to this type of game, but you will catch on very quickly. The music is perfect, every foreboding tune perfectly compliments the imminent danger that lurks around every corner.

You will die a lot in this game, but not because the game isn't fair, more because you will learn what to do and what not to do in order to survive. This is actually one of the strong suits in the game because you will be terrified of every room that you enter, as every enemy encounter can be a live-or-die situation. In addition, when you die, you will not respawn in the same room, but rather at the last time, you saved the game, which makes you fear death that much more. I can't recommend this game enough to any serious horror fan. It's been a long time since a game truly had me scared throughout the entire experience.

After 8 months of battling cancer, the Resident Evil 8 voice actress, Jeanette Maus, has passed away and it was tragic news for the whole Resident Evil community. On top of giving condolences to the actress and her family online, some fans even go out of their way to raise money from the community for her family.

We here at Capcom R&D 1 are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Jeanette Maus, the talented actress who helped bring several different characters, including our witches to the world in Resident Evil Village. Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones.

As a result, not only Resident Evil fans but also fans from Maus' other works have come together to give out donations on GoFundMe. So far, the community has raised over $60,000 (~ Rs 43 Lakh). This contribution will help a lot to pay the medical bill accrued during her treatment and her funeral.

There has been no update on the GoFundMe page since December 2020 as her friends and family are grieving for her death but people are still donating with the hope to make the situation better for them.

Resident Evil Village will be the final project to feature Jeanette Maus. It is planned to be released on May 7 and it is possible that we will see Capcom pays tribute to her in the game in some ways such as a memorial in the post-game credits. Resident Evil is one of the most influential horror video games of all time. Along with Clock Tower and Silent Hill, it has been known as one of the pioneers under the survival horror genre since its first release. It has experienced a long long journey and is going to escape from the gaming platform via its spinoff on wide screens.

As revealed in the Tokyo Game Show, the web series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness stars Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy - both joined the Resident Evil 2 project. The movie is seemingly based on the game of the same name and may focus more on horror scenes than some previous Resident Evil CG versions. Fans and the gaming community must fall in love with this web series, especially when Leon Kennedy and Claire, once again, portray the main roles.

On its official Twitter page, Netflix Portugal has recently released a trailer for the upcoming CG web series. The trailer starts with the scene in which a young girl discovers a desolate house. She turns out to be Claire Redfield in Resident Evil 2. She is covered by zombies and then kills them with a handgun.

The next scene mentions a guy who is saving another one from zombies. He is nobody but Leon Kennedy, one of the most familiar faces in the franchise. The trailer ends when the title Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness appears on the screen.

It’s hard to determine when the movie is happening. Leon seems to have no differences from himself in Resident Evil 2’s remake. It is said that the incidents in the latest web series take place after the incident in Raccoon. Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi confirmed that Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will be released on Netflix in 2021.

This web series is not the only project Netflix has produced based on the game. Another live-action movie mentions Albert Wesker’s daughter twins. It is set in two different periods and may add more information about the Wesker family. It is produced by Constantin Film - a company that specializes in producing live-action movies.

Netflix has recently confirmed that it is making a new live-action series that gets inspired by Resident Evil - a popular survival horror video game. Accordingly, the new series consists of 8 episodes. There hasn’t been any specific detail on the official release date of Resident Evil on Netflix but it must be premiered after The Witcher Season 2.

Back in February, there were some rumors to leak the synopsis for this upcoming live-action series that allegedly revolves around the Maryland town in which the zombie pandemic has broken out. The lead characters in Resident Evil include original characters in the game version such as Chris, Claire Redfield, Leon, and Jill Valentine.

However, the synopsis of Netflix’s Resident Evil was re-written completely because Netflix has recently confirmed that the series doesn’t focus on the lead characters in the game. Instead, it aims at two completely new characters who may be related to the children of the villain Wesker.

To get more specific, on Twitter, Netflix revealed that instead of Wesker, his two children, Jade and Billie Wesker, would become the new central points of the new series. The shocking news immediately attracted huge attention from the netizens, especially fans of Resident Evil.

Many even wondered when Wesker had children because they have never heard anything like that in Resident Evil’s games. However, before being killed in Resident Evil 5, Wesker reportedly settles down and has a family with his twin daughters, Jade and Billie Wesker, aged 14.

After Raccoon City is destroyed, the Umbrella group builds a new Raccoon City. But there is another T-Virus outbreak that changes a game completely. Netflix tweeted that when Wesker’s children moved to the New Raccoon City, the secrets they found out maybe the ending for everything.

With the success of The Witcher Season 1 and the release of the upcoming Season 2, Netflix has now been ready for producing a lot of series that focus on video games. The release of Resident Evil is amongst the typical pieces of evidence; however, whether this live-action series gains the same success to The Witcher or not may depend much on its new plot.

Resident Evil 8's current state is still unrevealed, however, a fair amount of leaks have been trickling down from sources - most of them are pretty decent and does not affect people's perception of the game, unlike the recent reveals about The Last of Us 2. In this article, we would list out some of the most prevalent leaks about the upcoming Resident Evil sequel from Capcom:

1 - Plot points leak

This leak is from a Resident Evil demo - the people who revealed this also further stated that the game is going to be released in 2021. According to this source, various characters from RE7 would return - including Ethan, Mia, and Chris. This pretty much canonized the good ending of RE7. Apparently, Ethan and Mia, after escaping from the horrible events of the previous game, are living in a remote mining village in the middle of nowhere. They had a kid together. Afterward, a mysterious mining accident happens, and the people of the village begin to turn into zombies.

The event eventually leads back to yet another Umbrella conspiracy, with a Castle, an undercover lab, and werewolves at the end of the mine... the usual Resident Evil schtick. The game coded "Village", but this is probably not the final name of the project.

2 - Chris Redfield redesign

Looks like Chris would again play a part in a RE game, this time with a completely different design altogether. Apparently, he would be similar to his appearance during the DLC of RE7.

3 - RE 8 would have some of the most gruesome monster design yet

This leak was from Aesthetic Gamer, one of the verified Resident Evil Series leakers that has gotten it right a lot of time in the past. According to him, RE8 will include some of the monster designs that have never been seen before in previous entries - and with this game being first-person like RE7, players are going to get an absolutely wild ride.

Capcom is already preparing for the arrival of Resident Evil 4 Remake, with an estimated release date of 2022, as reported by the media outlet VGC . The British website that has previously shown to have good contacts within the industry ensures that it has received this information from various sources, and that those responsible for its development would be M-Two, the studio in charge of the recent Resident Evil 3 Remake.

This Osaka-based studio is led by Tatsuya Minami and made up of several former Capcom and PlatinumGames employees, and its name comes from the fact that they originally unsuccessfully attempted to recruit Shinji Mikami, (M-Two: Minami-Mikami), the creator of the Resident Evil saga and director of the fourth installment.

If all these rumors that appeared in the last days are true, Resident Evil 8 will launch next year, in 2021, while Resident Evil 4 Remake would arrive in 2022, curiously both set in a village and with certain somewhat transgressive ideas within the saga, away from the classic zombies.

This would be the game whose rumors appeared a few days ago, which said that Capcom was preparing another great remake.

Resident Evil 4 Remake vs. Original

Resident Evil 4 was originally released in March 2005 for the Nintendo GameCube and a few months later for PS2, and was a decided turn towards the most intense and spectacular action, which was later continued by subsequent installments, since it was a complete sales success.

Critically acclaimed, today it remains the highest-rated game in Capcom's history, and it not only changed the saga forever, but also the genre of third-person action itself, in details such as camera placement that set the trend.

It was a technical masterpiece at the time, which has been reissued on countless platforms since then, and can be played in remastered versions on current platforms, keeping much of its charm intact.

Unlike the old Resident Evil 2 and 3, which had a lot of room for improvement and updating when turning them into contemporary games, it will be interesting to see how Capcom tackles this remake, which can be quite a challenge for its managers, since the bar of the original game is still set very high.

Looks like Capcom is going to bring the Resident Evil franchise to the next level, with a third Resident Evil release - three years in a row. This is not another remake however, as Resident Evil 4 is not dated enough to require a remake yet. The 2021 game is going to be the next entry in the main storyline of the series - "Resident Evil 8".

The source of these leaks was AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem, the same person who provided various leaks related to Resident Evil 3 Remake and Silent Hills. Based on his report, the game was originally developed as a sequel to the Resident Evil: Revelations spin-off series, however, Capcom and the alpha testers were really impressed by the prototypes - which leads to their eventual decision to turn the game into the next mainline Resident Evil.

The report further states that the formerly "Resident Evil 8" that was in the works is still rather early in its development cycle - and Capcom does not want such a big gap between the seventh and eighth games. Because of that, that title was pushed to the side so that they could focus more on this "Revelations 3" version of RE8.

The game is going to be a cross-gen title, which means that you would be able to play it on both this generation (PS4, Xbox One) and the next one (PS5, Xbox X). AestheticGamer also mentioned that the game is going to depart from the common RE tropes, embrace the first-person perspective gameplay, and the "purists" would be very mad about this. The main theme would be Occultism, Hallucinations, Insanity, and Distrust - this is also a big departure from RE 1 - 6, and more in-line with its direct prequel, RE 7.

Maybe Resident Evil 3 Remake's failure was partly because of all these projects in the works - not enough resources were diverted to the title, which leads to a disappointing amount of content being cut from the final game. Resident Evil 3 Remake was released in a weirdly appropriate time: when people all over the world are struggling because of a global pandemic. In RE3, you will explore the fictional town of Raccoon City, a location under a viral outbreak. Step into the shoes of protagonist Jill Valentine, a member of the city's special force called STARS, in her quest to carve a path into the zombie horde and get out of the city alive. The game was released 2 days ago, on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Overall, the game is pretty much excellent in visuals and gameplay aspects. The combat is an improved version of last year's RE2 remake. Jill is much faster than Leon and Claire - she also has a special dodge. If you are able to time it right, those zombies would pretty much be sitting ducks. Jill and Carlos both have a decent arsenal of weapons, about as many as the previous game has. The story is improved - a lot of the plot details were presented in beautiful cutscenes. They have done a great job in showcasing Jill's charisma and Nicholai's villainous motive. The game also ties in pretty well with the events of RE 2, which canonically take place after the first part of RE3 chronologically.

However, these are probably everything positive that can be said about this game. For a game formerly named "Resident Evil 3: Nemesis", the titular horror icon monster barely appears. In the remake, the Nemesis doesn't really pursue you as relentlessly as he did in the original - even the Tyrant in RE2 remake was more of a presence. While Nemesis is pretty awesome when he does show up, the guy was pretty much relegated into the scripted cinematic sequences and boss battles - heavily underused.

No backtracking - the early sections of RE3 Remake was really exciting, with beautiful visual aesthetics. However, if you are not careful and explore everything before progressing further into the main quest, the game would lock you out of coming back. The worse thing is that this is really unexpected - you would most likely not be able to see this coming.

There are a lot of cut contents - Capcom probably has rushed this game out of the gate, with various optional areas like clocktower and park, along with the branching choices of the original game removed. This leads to the game being super linear - you would be forced into a set route without any option to deviate. This actually cuts down a lot of replayability value, as you would pretty much see everything in the first run.

The puzzle aspect of the series is also heavily underused as well - there are barely any in the game, instead, Capcom has replaced them with even more monsters. To get the key item, you would just have to blast through all the nearby zombies. The difficulty of the game is also dumbed down, with a lot of resources available everywhere even in the hardest difficulty.

Lastly, Resident Evil 3 Remake is super short - you would probably be able to beat the game in 6-7 hours. There is nothing else except the usual unlockables to keep you occupied - not even the original game's challenge mode. Resident Evil series is a survival horror game franchise developed and published by Capcom, a game company in Japan. Resident Evil 1996

Capcom launched this first game of the resident evil series to PS1 and Sega Saturn platforms in 1996. Since its successful release date, this first resident evil game received lots of praise and an impressive grossing at that time. As the first part of the whole series, Resident Evil 1996 is the beginning of the story when a bizarre murder series starts a nightmare in Raccoon City. After the successful launch of this game, Capcom continues to release two sequels of resident evil 2 in 1988 and resident evil 3 in 1999 for PS1. Resident Evil 2 1998

This sequel was launched in January 1998 after the success of the first resident evil game. It was another success of Capcom when lots of gamers and game reviews had good feedback on it. Resident Evil 2 features the classical action-horror gameplay and fixed camera angles. It made the game more thrilling and exciting when you have to focus to listen to the sound and spot the zombies around you. This game has a high level of difficulty, making this sequel a good choice for gamers who seek something challenging and fearful. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis 1999

Following the success of the two sequels, Capcom launched RE3: Nemesis on September 22, 1999, to PS and PC platforms. In comparing with two previous games of Resident Evil all parts, RE3 features action-oriented gameplay with lots of strange and cruel evils. RE3 is estimated to be friendly with fans of this series but challenging with beginners.  

Resident Evil: Code Veronica 2000

In 2000, the publisher continued to release the fourth resident evil game titled Resident Evil Code: Veronica to the Sega Dreamcast platform. Then, the developer released the game to PS2 and GameCube with the title Code: Veronica X. On the adventure to find her brother Chris, the protagonist Claire Redfield followed clues that led her to the Headquarter of the Umbrella Organization in France. 

However, the girl couldn’t escape from the dense security system here. She was captured, taken to another lab of Umbrella on Rockfort Island and imprisoned there. Soon after, the T-virus epidemic occurred and took over the island. Claire had to use her skills and find a way to survive and escape. 

Resident Evil Zero 2002

Resident Evil Zero, the fifth game of Resident Evil all parts brought players to the year 1998. Reports about the abnormal murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City came constantly. The S.T.A.R.S team sent Bravo Team to investigate these murders. Throughout the game, you will control two characters, Rebecca and Billy to explore the mysteries and try to survive. In this Resident Evil game, you play from the third-person perspective. You can switch to play as the police officer Billy or the medic Rebecca. Each character has unique abilities. Follow their steps and explore the nightmare in Raccoon City in Resident Evil Zero. 

Resident Evil 4 2005

Most RE fans agreed that RE4 launched in 2005 is the best game of Resident Evil all parts. It was a perfect combination of horror-action gameplay and a great cast of characters. Moreover, a cinematic plot and excellent graphics quality make the game more attractive like a Hollywood movie. Capcom didn’t let their fans down when making such an excellent game.

Resident Evil 5 2009

This is another third-person shooter game in this series. Five years after the story in RE4, the two protagonists Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar was sent to Kijuju. This is a fictional place in Africa. Chis and Sheva came to investigate a terrorist threat and a new bio-weapon sold on black markets in Kijuju. On arriving there, they explored a new type of parasite taking over the locality which can control people and co-operate in attacks.

Two characters had to find out the origin of these parasites. By completing side missions, Chris got clues leading him to his old enemy, Albert Wesker. In Resident Evil 5, players will control one of two protagonists while AI takes over the other. You can use the money you earned from mission completes to purchase or upgrade your weapons, too.

Resident Evil 6 2012

RE6 is the next game in Resident Evil all parts and another amazing combination of horror and action-adventure gameplay. It brings you oppressive combat, cinematic story, and horror scenes. RE6 is the story of Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Ada Wong, and a new character Jake Muller. They have to confront a super-dangerous virus while traveling constantly between China and the US. The core elements of this game are bio-war, epidemics, and horrible zombies.

Resident Evil: Revelation 2012

This game is also a part of the main series, not a spin-off. Resident Evil: Revelation took place between RE4 and RE5 events. You control two main characters Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine in a survival horror adventure. Besides, players have to explore the mysteries and solve puzzles while fighting against zombies with a limited source of ammo. Unlike previous games in Resident Evil all parts, the game less focuses on shooting and action scenes. It features both the first-person perspective and the third-person perspective.

Resident Evil: Revelation 2 2015

This part features the escape of two protagonists Clair Redfield and Moira Burton. Claire, the survivor escaping from Raccoon City in the previous Resident Evil game was working for Terra Save anti-terrorist organization. And Moira was in a welcome party of Terra Save when an anonymous arm force suddenly attacked them. Two characters woke up in an abandoned prison. Your mission is controlling one of two characters to finding out the kidnapper and the jiggery-pokery hidden behind.

Resident Evil 7 2017

This is the latest part of this horror game series. In Resident Evil Biohazard 7, players control the male character Ethan who is finding his wife in an ancient villa. You will have the most horrible, haunting, and thrilling experience in this Resident Evil the final chapter. This story is also used to make a movie. So, you can watch the movie featuring Resident Evil the final chapter in Hindi Khatrimaza to have a more horror experience.

This game is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The publisher lets you experience the Resident Evil final chapter on your mid-range computer. Here are some Resident Evil 7 system requirements before downloading the game.

Daymare: 1998 was originally a remake of Capcom’s masterpiece, Resident Evil 2. However, Capcom has swiftly put a stop to that, as they have planned on making a remake for Resident Evil 2 themselves. The reveal trailer for Project Resistance has just been released, and with that, it is verified that the game would be four players coop against the zombie horde.

Project Resistance has been on development for quite some time now, as Capcom has been inviting testers from Japan and the US to playtest the game in September. After that, the teaser website revealed that Project Resistance would be available for the attendee of Tokyo Game Show – a lot more info would be available soon enough. For the unfortunate, however, they would have to make do with just this trailer.

The first event that happens in the trailer is a swarm of zombies attacking four characters wearing normal American Teenager clothes. They are armed with light weaponry and some makeshift gears such as a baseball bat. Turned out the area was a research lab, and the person who is controlling it is releasing more and more dangerous creatures to fight them, such as a licker. And finally, during the climax of the trailer, Mr. X appears to face the four survivors.

The trailer, despite being awesome, hasn’t given us much to theorize about. Capcom calls this in-development game a team-based survival horror experience, which is very similar to Valve’s left 4 dead. As the game is heavily implied to be coop intensive, stuffs like cross-play is just to be expected. As the number of people in the survivor team swelled to four, it is unknown if Project Resistance would be able to replicate the survival horror style of the previous Resident Evil games.

A few weaknesses in story writing has held Resident Evil 7 back from reaching its rightful place. The end of last week saw Capcom launched Resident Evil 2 Remake on several platforms, but not all of it. They put just a small portion of the game on offer, a demo that lets players experience only 30 minutes of the game. It is expected to challenge the top-end attributes of the RE engine and also show the technical features developers make for the base version as well as the expansion packs. The PC version has a wide range of settings but according to the demo, for high-end features, you must have pretty competent equipment.

You can see this clearly by examining camera cuts, which are not under the effect of temporal anti-aliasing. For certain frames, the resolution looks noticeably lower than others.

For more competent hardware, you may enjoy the resolution of 1620p but reconstruction does happen. This can be tested by using a PC version where we can configure the resolution and examine scenes from different options.

Apart from what we have just analyzed, the only dissimilarity is the screen-space reflections and the field’s depth, which might come down to the different rendering resolution. The game is compatible with PC, which allows players to choose a higher frame-rate and resolution. In a test that involves two configurations, a Core i5 8400 goes with a GTX 1060 and RX 580, which are the best option currently for 1080p. The two can handle the 30-minute demo set at 1080p with ease. There are issues with the volumetric quality and post-processing but they are minor and acceptable. They can cope with the 1440p60 and if you increase the demand to non-reconstructed 1620p, the cards can handle that too.

However, if what you are after is the native 4K without any major problems, the RTX 2080 Ti might be the only option available but expect drops here and there even at this type of hardware.

VRAM meter of the demo is questionable as it is supposed to give you a clear idea of how much memory you need in order to run the game with the settings you choose. When players pick the 4K, the meter jumps to 15GB, but many think that this figure is incorrect.

The reason here is the demo does not perform as expected with a GTX 1060 6GB at 4K but the stutter does not involve texture swapping. With cards of 6GB, 8GB, and 11GB, it seems like the game stream in assets in accordance with the amount of VRAM left, reaching the upper limit of 9.5GB with an RTX 2080 Ti. But this is only for the demo; we still do not know whether this is the same in a wider environment or the official version.

The DX12 implementation also sees this problem, which is suffering from tough performance penalty on Nvidia and AMD hardware. With the current situation, the final product had better fix it.

Players also express the hope that they can remove the half-rate animations on PC. With 60Hz display, when players move farther, the animation rate falls to 30Hz while if they come closer, it gets back to 60Hz. However, this issue cannot be ignored as it shows up in all of the game’s versions and players simply cannot let it go. This technique is common in several titles to somehow spare the CPU of heavy load.

With the PC version, Resident Evil 2 Remake does not put much of a load on the CPU (we are talking about the demo here) so there is no need for half-rate animations. For the highest settings, the tweaks are still there. All we can do now is to hope that these problems will be solved in the official version.

Bottom line, many players have a positive attitude toward this 30-minute demo ever since it is out and say that it is worth a try. It definitely yields and an overall good result on both enhanced consoles and PC. Capcom has done a good job combining one of their ever famous gaming titles and the forefront rendering technology in this Resident Evil Remake. The demo has made fans longing for the final product more than ever before.

Monster Hunter to be adapted into movie

A spin-off film of the game Monster Hunter by Capcom is being developed. Of course, this news may sound pretty interesting for a lot of us who have known and played the series. However, there are few things can really worry the real fans of the games. First, the film is created upon Capcom's production, while Paul Anderson is directing it. Not to mention his wife Mila Jovovich will also appear in the cast. If you don't know or have forgotten, that's the destruction formula of the not-so-successful Resident Evil film versions.

And then, while the series of events in the film happen in the fantasy as well as the real world, the premiere set images of it didn't really satisfy the fans since it doesn't look similar to the games.

However, we can still have some slight hope as Paul Anderson has explained some things about his project in a recent interview.

While the interview was mainly about Origin, a series by Youtube Premium in which Anderson was the director of the first 2 episodes, the guy did mention the progressing Monster Hunter film. Outlast

The series Outlast is definitely up there in terms of the ability to terrify people. In the first game, you are trapped inside an asylum called Mount Massive, which holds a horde of patients with mental issues. Of course, if they get their hands on you, it won’t be pretty. One of the factors that makes Outlast so terrifying is that the character you control is practically powerless. Most anything can kill you. The very air around you seems tense and creepy. The second entry of the series will have you survive a town full of zealots. It retains many qualities from the first game. Several fans even think it surpasses its predecessor.
