Since Riot Games announced the mobile variant of its insanely famous MOBA game League of Legends, fans are very eager to see how the game will look like. However, apart from the official name League of Legends: Wild Rift, we still haven't got anything new from the gaming giant yet. Until yesterday!

To be more specific, Riot has dropped a 'dev diary' video on Wild Rift, and not only does their staff tells us about how they're doing with the game, but they also give us a glimpse on the Wild Rift gameplay as well! Overall, it looks incredibly similar to LOL on PC, and is potentially the best-looking MOBA on mobile right now!

League of Legends: Wild Rift will maintain its core values

This March dev diary from Riot Games will focus on the thing we're waiting for the most: the champions. To be more specific, the video gave us a quick look on the titular champions from the original League of Legends, and how they're making some slight change to its to make playing Wild Rift on League of Legends mobile mobile much better.

Brian Feeney - the lead of the LoL: Wild Rift designing team is the one revealing about those features. Overall, LoL Mobile will keep the same level of potentials in which people are familiar League of Legends. Be ready to see insane Vayne tumbling outplays, or Yasuo stylishly dashing through minions - like what we can see from the video.

But will change some abilities for better control and more funs

That's what most people are afraid of the League of Legends mobile version, but the designing team is working hard to bring you the same amount of satisfaction with Wild Rift as LoL can. However, it's impossible to port the whole game on your mobile devices without some changes to adapt to the specific controls on smartphones, and Riot also keeps an eye on that as well.

As a result, some champions with unique passive skills on their skillsets now will receive bonus active skills to keep them playable. For example, Vayne's Silverbots now allow you to one-tap it to temporarily increase her attack speed, while still keep the titular True Damage by percentage health. That might sound too over-powered, but Riot will surely do something to balance it.

At the same time, some other point-n-click abilities will also be changed as well, as they are not suitable for League of Legends mobile gaming experiences. For example, Annie's and Miss Fortune's Q are now changed to skill shots, which make it less hard to cast and encourage healthier Wild Rift gameplay. However, some important abilities like Vi's Ultimate (which is also point-n-click) - will remain the same.

Riot also teased that there might be also some changes just for the memes, like Lux's giant laser beam abilities now is even longer than what it is in LoL!

LoL Mobile won't come out this year

To cap everything up, the team revealed that League of Legends: Wild Rift might not come out soon. Specifically, they're still testing Wild Rift thoroughly, and there will not be any new information on the game by the end of this year. It also refers that LoL mobile won't come out this year either.

At the time it releases, League of Legends: Wild Rift (LoL mobile) will be available for free on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Arena of Valor

Arena of Valor is an effort from Tencent to emulate League of Legends on mobile. Unfortunately, things did not really work out and the company has stopped supporting the game. That said, it is still going with a small but dedicated company, so if you want something a little different, this is still a title worth checking out.

Heroes Evolved

Heroes Evolved offers a sizable collection of more than 50 heroes to choose from, which even include popular real-world figures such as Bruce Lee. There are also several different play modes, plenty of gear to customize your characters, and the best part: Pay to win isn’t a thing.

Heroes of Order & Chaos

Heroes of Order & Chaos is yet another title with a long history as it launched all the way back in 2012 following the original Order & Chaos MMORPG. It just got a remaster, however, so don’t worry that it’ll lag behind its more recent competitors.

Onmyoji Arena

Onmyoji Arena is a pretty new offering from NetEase. As its name suggests, the game is set in the same universe as Onmyoji, which is a gacha RPG released earlier also by NetEase.  It features an awesome visual style inspired by Asian mythology and even includes a battle royale mode in which 3 teams of 3 fight for supremacy.

Mobile Legends

To be honest, MOBA is not a genre where there is a lot of room for innovation as the formula is pretty much set in stone. However, one thing about Mobile Legends worth mentioning is that it allows your character to be taken over by AI if you somehow lose connect in the middle of a match. Of course, you’ll be able to retake the driver’s wheel when you reconnect.

Paladins Strike

Paladins Strike is a special entry in this list because unlike the others we’ve mentioned above, it is more of a hero shooter. The game features 15 characters from the Paladins universe as well as various modes to enjoy.

Coming from NetEase, Extraordinary Ones is an upcoming MOBA game for mobile that’s set to hit Google Play and the App Store later this month on the 15^th of January. We have reported on this one back in December 2019 when it became open for pre-registration, and so far it has already amassed more than 100,000 pre-registrations, which is pretty impressive for a mobile MOBA. Check out the game’s trailer below:

Extraordinary Ones takes place in the fictional city of Esper, where humans, monsters, and other supernatural beings live together in relative harmony. The city also houses a grand academy, which is where students come to train to become masters of the art of tactical combat.

Two different groups are working hard to prove that they are the best fighters, and you'll get to acquaint yourself with a few of these students via in-game dialogues. The academy’s ground is expansive with plenty of places to explore, such as classrooms, basketball courts, podiums, gyms, and more.

Matches are reportedly intense and fast-paced, involving two teams of 5 duking it out to see who can come out on top. At launch, the game will feature 36 unique characters to unlock and play as with new ones coming on a weekly basis. Needless to say, each hero has his/her own strengths and weaknesses. Moreover, all of these characters are apparently voiced in Japanese by an “all-star cast”.

When not battling, you can also build friendships and even romantic relationships with the characters. Doing so will unlock additional dialogues and stories.

With this title, NetEase says it’s aiming to balance long-term depth with controls and pacing friendly to the mobile platform.  Extraordinary Ones is set to launch globally for both Android and iOS on January 15^th and is still available for pre-registration at the moment. Naturally, if you pre-register now, you’ll get some exclusive in-game rewards when the game arrives.

With the Battle Royale and Auto Chess craze receding of late, it seems MOBAs are now making a comeback. We’ll likely see Marvel Super War getting released in various regions before the end of the year, and League of Legends: Wild Rifts is set to arrive soon as well. Apparently, though, just Marvel alone is not enough to satiate NetEase, and so the company has announced Extraordinary Ones, another MOBA that’s eyeing a global release in early 2020. The game is already up for pre-registration on Google Play and it’ll be available for both Android and iOS at launch. The most prominent thing about Extraordinary Ones is probably its roster of 36 characters, all of whom originated from mythologies but have been redesigned to be as over-the-top as they can possibly get.

From what we’ve seen so far, these mythical figures have been mixed with anime and even some memes, and of course, their battlefield is going to be a high school campus.

Aside from that, the game appears to be your usual MOBA experience. You'll form a team with 4 other players and compete against another team of 5, with the ultimate goal being to fight your way into their base and destroy their main structure. However, there’s also a teleporter that players you can use to catch your opponent off guard.

RNG will seemingly play a factor in deciding the items you’ll receive as well. These grant random stat boosts to your character and can also have other effects when activated. For example, you can heal yourself or inflict an enemy with a curse that slows their movement speed.

Extraordinary Ones is now up for pre-registration on Google Play but not on the App Store, though we can expect that to come pretty soon. There's no information on the monetization model yet, but if it’s anything like other NetEase’s titles, it’ll be free-to-play with IAPs.

NetEase has announced the release date for its upcoming Marvel-themed mobile MOBA Marvel Super War in certain regions of the world. The game will become available for both Android and iOS on the 19th of December in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, The Philippines, and India.

This launch follows a beta test that also took place in these regions from November 21^st. With the full game coming to these territories in just a couple of weeks, interested players from the rest of the world can probably expect to get their hands on it pretty soon. After all, it’s Marvel, and many people will want to play it.

In case you have not heard, Marvel Super War is a 5v5 MOBA that features tons of Marvel characters. Of course, the big names such as Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain America, and Thor will be there, but accompanying them will be some less famous heroes that those who have not read the comics might not recognize.

Alongside the announcement, NetEase has also released a 12-minute-long video that provides details on the entire roster. You can check it out right below to see if your favorite heroes are present in the game. It also gives us a glimpse at a few skins that are going to be available. We can expect that these will be cosmetics that you buy with real money.

In terms of the gameplay, Marvel Super War follows the traditional MOBA formula. If you have played the likes of DotA or League of Legends, you’ll no doubt instantly notice that the map here has practically the same layout. There are 3 lanes connecting your base and the enemies', and your task is to control your chosen hero to constantly push up the lanes, destroy the enemies’ towers, and eventually their main building inside the base.

As mentioned, those who live in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, The Philippines, and India will be able to download Marvel Super War from both Google Play and the App Store starting from December 19^th. This is a free-to-play title with IAPs included.

Marvel Super War is an upcoming MOBA for mobile made by NetEase in partnership with Marvel Entertainment. The game has just entered its first closed beta phase and will be available on both Android and iOS at launch.

As you might expect, Marvel Super War will feature plenty of famous heroes and villains from the Marvel universe, each of whom has their own unique abilities. Check out the trailer of the game below:

From the trailer, you should have a pretty good idea of what to expect from Marvel Super War. It follows the traditional MOBA formula where 10 players are divided into 2 teams of 5 and then proceed to choose from a collection of available characters to play as. The goal is to fight their way into the enemy’s base to destroy the main building. Honestly, the game doesn’t look like it’s doing too much to set itself apart from the hundreds of other similar titles out there. The developer did promise "fair combat and balanced gameplay," though, so at least there’s that.

Marvel Super War’s closed beta is currently available in Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and India, and it will last until the end of June 10. In order to run the game, you must have a device that’s running on Android 5.1 or a later version, with at least a Snapdragon 410 chipset and 2GB of RAM. Do note that once the beta is over, all the servers and accounts will be deleted.

At the moment, there aren’t many more details about Marvel Super War aside from what's available on the game's official website and Facebook page. Information about the monetization model hasn’t been announced, though it's likely to be a free-to-play release with in-app purchase. The official launch date also remains a mystery as well. We've heard about the dates for Dota 2 The International 2019 a few days ago from Vici Gaming’ article. However, recently, we have officially received the official dates from Valve, through their trustworthy Twitter account.

About The International

For those who don’t know, The International, or TI, is an annual Dota 2 tournament by Valve. It is undoubtedly the biggest and the most prestigious event for any professional and casual players to participate/spectate in the Major Championship circuit.

The first International was in 2011, where it unveiled Dota 2 to the world. Since 2013, the community started to contribute to the prize pool by purchasing battle pass. Will millions of dollars on the line each and every year, The International has made itself a name to be the biggest esports tournament of all time, regarding the prize pool.

Dota 2 - The International 2019

Back to The International 2019, The Main Event shall take place between Aug 20^th  and Aug 25^th. Prior to that, the group stage shall take place from the 16^th to the 18^th of August as well. As Valve confirmed the dates, they are finalizing the details to start selling tickets. We should expect tickets to go on sales in the next few weeks.

For this specific year, China will host TI 9 in the famous Mercedes Benz Arena in Shanghai. Previously, The International was in Cologne, Germany (2011), Seattle, U.S. (2012 - 2017) and Vancouver, Canada (2018).

As we’re getting closer and closer to TI, Dota 2 fans are expecting the arrival of TI9 Battle Pass. Besides cool gifts, bonuses and cosmetics, people treat the Battle Pass as a way to contribute to TI’s prize pool.

With the end of the recently Games Developer Conference, we now know more and more about the upcoming games of the smaller game studios. One notable mentioned will be Hunter’s Arena, the first installment of the indie Korean studio Mantisco. Developed using Unreal Engine 4, the game is a PvP title with a variety of modes. However, during the convection, there was not enough space to show the core Battle Royale aspect of the game. Instead, Mantisco only showed a playable version of the game with a one on one tag team mode. The followings are some important factors from the observation from the game:

• Hunter’s Arena was formerly known by the name Project W, which was initially developed in June 2017. Full-scale development only started far later in August 2018. Beginning as an indie studio, Mantisco has since then grown to 42 strong.
• The game was crafted utilizing the Unreal Engine 4, which will be released firstly on Steam and later Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 platform. A localization for mobile phone will also be underway, however, it remains unclear whether a cross-platform play will be available for the game.
• The game is described to be a combination between two popular genres which are Battle Royale and MOBA.

• As for the Battle Royale aspect, the game main map is said to able to contain 50 players, the size of the map will approximately be half the size of the Sanhok map in PUBG. This is probably not going to be a big concern for Hunter’s Arena, as the game’s action will most likely be close quarters combats. There are no long-ranged characters found in the game yet.
• And for the MOBA aspect of the game, in-game players can hunt for monsters in order to become stronger. Moreover, they can be stealthy by hiding on bushes. All in all, the game might have some similarities to that of the Shadow Arena in Black Desert Online with some different features, for example, party and dungeon play.
• To further explain the MOBA part of the game, there will be mob spawns similar to that of many MOBA games which grant players with experience points, as the more difficult monster will give player equipment. As for raids and dungeon, they will demand teams to complete. In short, it is a map with a variety of activities happening.

• There is not much to say about the aspect of Battle Royale, however, Mantisco studio claims there will be transport mechanics that will do more than just taking people around the map.
• As mentioned above, for demonstrating the Battle Royale aspect of the game, it will take 15 people to do so according to the studio. However, it was not a possibility during the Games Developer Conference because there was not enough space.
• Therefore, the only thing that was demonstrated during the Conference was the game’s combat mechanics and graphics, which were the aspect that Mantisco takes most pride in.
• It is stated on Korean media that Hunter Arena’s combat feels similar to that of Tekken’s mechanics with the floating and juggling combos. Moreover, successful hits and blocks sequences will result in the ultimate skill action.

• The developers are currently dealing with 15 characters, however, the team only aims to have a more realistic 8 characters to launch this year. This may seem a bit insufficient compared to the 50 players out there. Nevertheless, we hope to find out more about this from Mantisco later.
• Three game modes will be available in the game, which is the PVE (Person Versus Environment), Tag Team, and Battle Royale.
• PVE can be described to be a mode where players have to defeat constant rounds and waves of monsters.
• According to Mantisco, the game can be experienced with a gamepad, however, it is best to enjoy the game by a mouse and keyboard. The game’s default mechanics will share some similarities with that of League of Legends.

• Different from other Battle Royale games, Hunter’s Arena focused on close quarters combats, in which players can find difficulties in starting a fight. Mantisco has come up with a way to counter this by providing players with bushes to hide and make surprise attacks or simply jump off a cliff to ambush another passing player.
• Hunter’s Arena is set to launch on Steam, however, it is unclear whether Mantisco has confirmed a business model or not. Closed Beta Tests and Focus Group Test will begin in South Korea from April.

Earlier this week, Valve released a smartphone companion Dota 2 app that lets fans follow big tournaments easier, keep track of their beloved teams as well as grants access to in-game stats. That’s not everything though: the app allows players to gamble.

The app uses Shards, a unique currency in Dota 2 dedicated to those who subscribe to Dota Plus. Dota Plus is a hub designed to help players improve their in-game performance and ranking. It takes a look and analyzes data about your past matches like a private coach and much more. It acts as a battle pass, granting player special rewards by earning and spending Shards.

In the past, common ways to earn Shards include predicting match results, completing quests, earning hero Xp as well as hitting specific in-game benchmarks. From now on, there’s one more way to get Shards: by betting on DPC (Dota Pro Circuit) matches.

In general, there are two ways to do this. First way involves Valve providing odds in advance for upcoming games and players betting up to 100 Shards on the winning team that they chose. If it’s correct, the reward is those Shards multiplied by their picked odds. At the moment, the maximum amount available to bet seems somehow low, especially when the odds are mainly single digit. Although, it’s still a convenient way to put extra tension in each match.

In the second way, players can use the exclusively Valve way “Fantasy Dota 2”. Players will first construct their own fantasy team before the start of a tournament. They will then earn points accordingly for the real-time performance of their team, thus increasing their Shards. Fantasy leagues are something very familiar in Dota 2 as they’ve been in the game for a long time. However, including such feature in a first-party app now is pretty neat and manageable. As for now, it’s much easier to keep track of tournaments by using the app, just by checking the phone. It’s really awesome as it works even for those who don’t play the game that much now.

Video game developer and publisher Super Evil Megacorp made an announcement on Monday that the free-to-play mobile MOBA game “Vainglory” is getting big update titled update 4.0, which will see the game releasing on PC and Mac in early 2019. The console versions will also be coming later in the same year. Moreover, when those ports arrive, they will have full cross-platform supports and competitive parity.

Kristian Segerstrale, CEO of Super Evil Megacorp, believes that gamers are always gamers regardless of what platform they play on. Thus, all deserve to play together. He says the company is working towards a future in which gamers can play with, and compete against, anyone, anywhere. To that end, Super Evil Megacorp wants to offer gameplay parity across all kinds of devices, be they smartphones, consoles, PCs, or next-generation devices.

The developer also said that the “Vainglory” ports will maintain the same strategic depth, precision control, as well as high-quality graphics. Furthermore, as Super Evil aims for competitive parity across all platforms, all eSports play will also support cross-play from 2019 onward. To demonstrate this new feature, the developer is organizing a PC vs. mobile show match during the Vainglory World Championship Finals, which takes place in Los Angeles on December 16.

Additionally, Super Evil is teaming up with Chinese game studio NetEase to support the big 4.0 launch in the country. Segerstrale said that China has turned into “a cauldron of innovation” in the mobile game industry in the past few years. With this partnership, Super Evil not only wants to bring the different versions of Vainglory to Chinese gamers but also to learn from the local market to achieve global success.
