What is League of Legends: Wild Rift?

After years of eagerly waiting, fans of the popular MOBA game League of Legends finally get a mobile version to enjoy. This is Riot Games' reimagining of their global hit, bringing its essence to your portable devices.  If you're familiar with the PC version, you'll get right on with this title.

How To Play Wild Rift Feature
Enjoy The Mobile Version Of LoL

Wild Rift still features a 5v5 MOBA gameplay, but with a twist for mobile owners. The map is smaller, players cast spells and abilities with dual-stick controls, and match times are just about 15 minutes. This is Riot Games’ first attempt to move to the mobile market, but it does not disappoint. The company tries to mobile gaming powerhouse Tencent Gaming, which provides an expert level of knowledge in the trade.

Does Wild Rift Cost Money to Play?

Like the original game, Wild Rift is completely free-to-play. However, it still features the in-game microtransaction system, offering in-app purchases for skins and other cosmetic items. Similar to the PC version, players can unlock all champions via gameplay alone, or purchase them to speed things up.

Riot Games has made the game F2P-friendly by providing more free champions as players level up. Wild Rift has three currencies - Blue Motes, Poro Coins, and Wild Cores. Blue Motes are the free currency (similar to Blue Essence in the PC version) and are used to unlock champions. Poro Coins are used to buy cosmetics like champion poses, emotes, and baubles. Players can save up Poro Coins to acquire a random skin.

The paid currency is called Wild Cores. It's the most powerful means for buying champions, skins, and other cosmetic items. As of now, all skins available take after those on the existing LoL skins. But we can expect original ones to release in near future.

How to Play Wild Rift?

League of Legends: Wild Rift has various unique and in-depth features that affect the gameplay. In order to be a real professional, players should expect to be spending hours on the game. However, everything starts with the basics! Here we have all the information and knowledge you need to claim your triumph in the Rift.

Mastering the Controls

The first thing you need to know about How to Play LoL Wild Rift is all about the control. This game features the same ability system as the PC version. However, Riot Games tweaked the control layout to fit the mobile screens. Like other MOBA games on portable devices, Wild Rift has a dual control stick scheme. Players use the left stick to move characters and the right stick to aim abilities.

Wild Rift Features A Familiar Control Layout For Mobile Games

If you're worried about casting the abilities, well, don't! Many champions' skills have been adjusted to fit the touch screen controls. For example, instead of having Ashe’s ultimate Enchanted Crystal Arrow flying in a straight line, players can now aim it. Long-range skill-shots also zoom out the camera to make them easier to land on off-screen enemies.

Aim Your Skillshots With Ease!

Here are a few changes you need to know:

  • All champion skills are now actively viable.
  • Point-and-click abilities are now skillshots
  • Auto attacks and certain skills use a new auto-targeting system for both creeps and champions.

Utilizing Items

Items have undergone a slight rework, although they generally still serve the same role as on the PC version. The major exception to this is active items. They now work as enchants on boots, each for a different role and playstyle.

How To Play Wild Rift Items
Check Out The Recommendation For The Best Build

Also, there are no jungle and support items. Junglers now have built-in smite passive abilities, and bonus gold generation for supports works in a different way. How to play LoL Wild Rift in India revolves largely around understanding the items' and champions' power.

Playing the Map

Theoretically speaking, the Wild Rift map is similar to that of the PC version. However, there are very significant changes. The most prominent one is that the map is mirrored. Your base is always in the bottom left. Hence, top and bottom lanes have been renamed solo and duo lanes.

Inhibs and inhib towers merge into one, Nexus towers are also gone, leaving the Nexus itself defending against attackers.

The jungle layout is also more compatible with faster play. Objectives such as Drake buffs have been changed to have a more active impact. To illustrate, Ocean Drake now grants a damage vamp instead of passive regeneration.

But there is one thing that does not change - vision control. It has always been a major part of MOBA gameplay, and Riot Games keep it that way in their mobile title. Warding and clearing vision smartly to give your team advantages in fights.

Knowing the Champions

Next on How to Play Wild Rift, it's time to visit the champions of the game. Currently, players have access to 55 champions, all introduced in the PC version. Needless to say, they're familiar names to any LoL veterans, featuring the same skillsets.

The majority of LoL Wild Rift champions come with 1 passive and 4 abilities. As the player levels up, they get 1 skill point. The maximum level has been reduced from 18 to 15 to fit faster gameplay.

Each champion in the game has a unique play style and skill cap. Some require more skill to maneuver around the Rift than others. Therefore, if you're starting to learn about the game, we highly recommend getting the hang of beginner-champs like Master Yi or Garen.

That's everything you need to know about How to Play Wild Rift. However, do keep in mind that the information is just basic knowledge. If you really want to develop yourself as a professional player, expect to be spending hours on understanding the mechanics inside out.

An unhappy incident happened to the popular streamer Cowsep as Riot Games recently banned him from Wild Rift for using "prohibited third-party programs"]]>

You may want to reconsider the idea of playing Wild Rift on an emulator. Riot Games is banning users who are using “prohibited third-party programs,” which might include emulators that players use to play the game on PC. Take the case of the popular streamer of the world's famous MOBA game - Cowsep as the prime example. His account was suspended from using a third-party program, and speculations lead to the emulator.

Using an emulator to play Wild Rift get you banned?

Wild Rift on an Emulator = Banned?

Currently, Wild Rift is in Open Beta in several regions. As with any other mobile game, players can enjoy the MOBA title on PC using various third party emulators. Or that's exactly what the popular streamer Joseph Osceola "Cowsep" Hursey was thinking. Recently, Cowsep received a ban from Riot Games, citing the use of “third-party software” as the reason. Cowsep was also not able to access his League account as a result.

cowsep ban
Cowsep was banned from Wild Rift

Although he personally does not think the emulator is the reason for his ban, many seem to have the opposite idea. For a streamer like Cowsep, playing and streaming exclusively on PC is a must. It's more powerful and it gets the job done!

Cowsep Uses Emulators To Play Wild Rift
He doesn't think the emulator was the problem

There are no streamers who want to play a MOBA on mobile devices and stream simultaneously. However, it's very likely that Riot Games considers the emulator to be a third-party app that grants PC players an unfair advantage, hence, issued the ban.

Still, nothing has been confirmed regarding the primary reason behind the ban. The Wild Rift community has also pointed at the use of a VPN as a possible cause since Riot recently cut off Wild Rift access for VPN users. Yet, the evidence seems dull since other players using VPNs do not have any repercussions.

Wait until the Riot Games issues their official statement

At the time of writing, Riot Games hasn't issued any official announcement on the cause of the ban. But for now, you may want to steer clear from emulators and VPNs for Wild Rift. Especially for those who have worked hard to climb rank or bought the latest K/DA skin. Let's wait for confirmation from the game publisher.

With that being said, we as the community need to embrace the fact that Wild Rift is trying its best to keep up with the initial timeline, despite the ongoing global pandemic. It's not only League of Legends: Wild Rift is struggling to keep up with the global premiere. Cyberpunk 2077 featuring Keanu Reeves has also delayed its release times and times again.

In just a few hours after its region-specific open beta launch, LoL: Wild Rift has achieved incredible milestones. So far, it has lived up to expectations. ]]>

Finally, after numerous hiccups, League of Legends: Wild Rift has launched its beta version. The mobile MOBA game was scheduled for a worldwide release during the first half of 2020. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic strikes hard, delaying the date back until now. On top of that, the devs only manage to send some servers in specific regions online for the time being.

However, it does not stop the Wild Rift open beta from going all out! Mobile gamers are completely in love with it, praising the game with beautiful words. Wild Rift had created a lot of hype around its release, with many cinematic trailers representing the mobile MOBA in a very fun way.

From the look, the feel, and the gameplay, everything's up to par in Wild Rift. Riot Games has done a great job of incorporating their experience in making MOBA game to this brand new creation. Even players from the opponent Arena of Valor are impressed with the game's performance.

Wr Regionalalpha 1920
The game includes many familiar Champions from the PC version

Wild Rift has received a lot of praises for a Mobile MOBA which was just out for a few hours. There are three things that the game really excels at:

  • The graphics are absolutely fantastic on decent devices. Some say that it's better than the cartoonist style of Mobile Legends and perhaps even better than the PC version of the game.
  • Wild Rift features a longer playtime than other mobile MOBA to minimize the overturn and avoid the "snowball effect". In Arena of Valor, the first three minutes of the game is so crucial. If you mess up and fall behind, the chance of a reverse win is very slim. This also comes from the fact that you have to go back to base to purchase items.
  • Every role is important in League of Legends: Wild Rift. All can carry in a game by making plays and each has a place to shine on Summoner's Rift.
League Of Legends Wild Rift 2
It's also super easy to control

Those are the things that stand out the most from the few hours of Wild Rift's open beta. We must wait for some time more to see how it will perform in the long run.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is the port of LoL to the mobile platform, with various optimizations and modifications to the gameplay. They actually have been trying to port the whole thing to mobile but eventually throw in the towel due to the complexity of LoL. Wild Rift is going to be a much simpler version of the game, with fewer heroes and mechanics.

While the game is global launch is announced to be at the end of 2020, the Indian version might be delayed to at least March 2021. The reason behind this is probably Tencent's involvement in the development of this game - they owned Riot ever since February 2011.

With Chinese based mobile games like PUBG Mobile getting banned in India, looks like they are being pretty careful in order to not get this game banned too - the delay might be an attempt to wait until the border situation calm down. The PC version, League of Legends, is still safe in India.

If you are a Dota 2 or MOBA fan, you probably wouldn't want to play any other games but them. However, MOBA games like Dota 2 usually require access to a computer, which is not always available. Want to play a round of Dota while on the go? Have no access to a PC while on vacation?

In this article, we would list out the best alternatives for Dota 2 on Mobile.

1 - Arena of Valor

Price: Free to play

Arena Of Valor

This is one of the newer MOBAs on the list - the best part about Arena of Valor is that it is pretty flexible. There are 5 vs 5, 3 vs 3 and even 1 vs 1 game modes, with over 30 heroes. Matches would last for about 10 minutes, which is the perfect length for a short session while on the go.

2 - Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Price: Free to play

Screen 4

Mobile Legends is probably the oldest mobile MOBAs on this list, with the biggest player base. The game mainly features 5 vs 5 battles with 10 minutes match lengths and simple controls. Due to the higher playerbase, finding a match in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is pretty easy - the Google Play description boasts 10s matchmaking wait times. There is a reconnect feature for players who disconnected from the match as well - no other mobile MOBA has that.

3 - League of Legends: Wild Rift

Price: Free to play

Maxresdefault 9

This game is going to be released very soon - based on Riot's announcement, Wild Rift is going to be available in all regions at the end of 2020. It is going to be a simplified port of League to console - with almost all the gameplay features intact and simplified controls. Currently, there are 40 champions available in-game, with 34 from Alpha and 6 from Beta.

Based on a Facebook video posted by TSM Entity, the gang is checking out the basics of League of Legends. Looks like waiting out for PUBG Mobile is not an option after all - the video shows Ghatak and other players in the team working on the basics of League. On the whiteboard before them are various details related to the MOBA like CC, AP, AD... etc.

Wr Regionalalpha 1920

This has opened up some speculations that TSM Entity would be switching to League of Legends: Wild Rift later this year when it comes out.

Why is TSM Entity switching to Wild Rift?

Unlike normal gamers, TSM Entity's players are professionals - they play games for a living. Without PUBG Mobile and the pro scene, they would not be able to make money.

There is no way to be sure when PUBG Mobile would be unbanned in the country - or if it is ever going to be unbanned... and with them all having bills to pay, spending time waiting and practicing on a dead esports scene is not something TSM Entity could do.

Because of that, they decided to switch to League of Legends: Wild Rift. To join and make money from an esports scene, it is crucial that you participate since day 1 on a popular game. Wild Rift ticked all the boxes for this - and Riot is definitely large enough to support the Esports scene, tournaments and prize money.

Furthermore, Sid Joshi, manager of TSM Entity, has been playing League for quite a while and is a big fan of the game. He was a big influence behind TSM Entity's game choice.

What is Wild Rift?

It is pretty much a version of League ported into mobile - with streamlined gameplay and optimized controls for mobile devices. The Alpha and Closed Beta tests have been pretty well received by people all over the world, including the Southeast Asia region.

To be more specific, Riot has dropped a 'dev diary' video on Wild Rift, and not only does their staff tells us about how they're doing with the game, but they also give us a glimpse on the Wild Rift gameplay as well! Overall, it looks incredibly similar to LOL on PC, and is potentially the best-looking MOBA on mobile right now!

Let's have a look at the video down here with Gurugamer.com, and find out about its changes to adapt with League of Legends mobile gaming with us below:

League of Legends: Wild Rift will maintain its core values

This March dev diary from Riot Games will focus on the thing we're waiting for the most: the champions. To be more specific, the video gave us a quick look on the titular champions from the original League of Legends, and how they're making some slight change to its to make playing Wild Rift on League of Legends mobile mobile much better.

Brian Feeney - the lead of the LoL: Wild Rift designing team is the one revealing about those features. Overall, LoL Mobile will keep the same level of potentials in which people are familiar League of Legends. Be ready to see insane Vayne tumbling outplays, or Yasuo stylishly dashing through minions - like what we can see from the video.

The most favorite (and annoying) champion in Lol - Yasuo - is going to be the same in Wild Rift

But will change some abilities for better control and more funs

That's what most people are afraid of the League of Legends mobile version, but the designing team is working hard to bring you the same amount of satisfaction with Wild Rift as LoL can. However, it's impossible to port the whole game on your mobile devices without some changes to adapt to the specific controls on smartphones, and Riot also keeps an eye on that as well.

Not everything is going to be similar to the original League of Legends in Wild Rift

As a result, some champions with unique passive skills on their skillsets now will receive bonus active skills to keep them playable. For example, Vayne's Silverbots now allow you to one-tap it to temporarily increase her attack speed, while still keep the titular True Damage by percentage health. That might sound too over-powered, but Riot will surely do something to balance it.

At the same time, some other point-n-click abilities will also be changed as well, as they are not suitable for League of Legends mobile gaming experiences. For example, Annie's and Miss Fortune's Q are now changed to skill shots, which make it less hard to cast and encourage healthier Wild Rift gameplay. However, some important abilities like Vi's Ultimate (which is also point-n-click) - will remain the same.

Riot also teased that there might be also some changes just for the memes, like Lux's giant laser beam abilities now is even longer than what it is in LoL!

LoL Mobile won't come out this year

To cap everything up, the team revealed that League of Legends: Wild Rift might not come out soon. Specifically, they're still testing Wild Rift thoroughly, and there will not be any new information on the game by the end of this year. It also refers that LoL mobile won't come out this year either.

It isn't likely for us to have new updates on LoL Mobile until the end of this year

At the time it releases, League of Legends: Wild Rift (LoL mobile) will be available for free on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Of course, there will be some in-app purchases, which might be for unlocking champions and skins - just as how League of Legends are working now on PC. Gurugamer will provide the latest updates on this game, so don't forget to sign-up and get notifications on our articles.

On another story, Riot Games' first-person 5v5 hero shooter Valorant also released its gameplay trailer, champions and other information as well. You can have a look at the video below, and find out about that information in our article here. Enjoy!

League of Legends is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a lot of new projects coming up to all three biggest platforms: PC, mobile, and console.]]>

One of the most famous MOBA titles League of Legends is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Riot Games has just had a huge livestream earlier today to announce tons of new projects of this game developer. Now we know that gamers in our country don’t play League of Legends often, but these new games from Riot Games will focus on the mobile platform, and all of those games look to be free to play. So let’s take a look and see what those new LoL-themed games are, and what else does Riot Games have to offer.

League of Legends coming to Mobile and Consoles with the name Wild Rift

This famous MOBA title will have its own version for the mobile and console platform called Wild Rift. This is actually a separated title from League of Legends (just like PUBG PC and PUBG Mobile). Wild Rift is still a 5v5 MOBA title with the same champions and skills with League of Legends on PC, but the gameplay will be simplified so that gamers can easily control their champions with the control system of the mobile and console platform. As the game is simplified, each match will last about 15 to 20 minutes only.

From now, you can start to register for the open beta of this game. Wild Rift will be officially released for China in early 2020, and the global version of this game will be released a few months later.

Teamfight Tactics will be on Mobile too

Alongside with the LoL-themed MOBA title Wild Rift for the mobile platform, the auto battler game of LoL - Teamfight Tactics – will be coming to the mobile platform as well. This game will also be officially available in Q1 2020. We all know that the auto battler game of Dota 2 – Dota Underlords – supports cross-platform gameplay, but Teamfight Tactics gamers will have to wait for some months until Riot Games release the cross-platform gameplay for Teamfight Tactics.

Announcing League of Legends Hero Shooter, called Project A

This game is still in the development process, so it is given the codename Project A. This will be a tactical FPS title with the League of Legends champions. This game will not be a spin-off title of League of Legends, it just takes the champions of the MOBA game and put it to a competitive shooting title for PC. This game does make us feel like Overwatch, but we hope that it can be better and cheaper than Blizzard’s title.

Riot Games’ Fighting Game, called Project L

This is actually the oldest-rumored project of Riot Games, but until now, this game developer confirms this project. Although this game is still in early development, it is confirmed to be an LoL-themed title. There has not been any other news about this title, but it does have a bright future, given how well-polished the graphics of League of Legends is.

Legends of Runeterra Is The New LoL-themed Free to Play Card Game

Legends of Runeterra (or LoR) is the new card game from Riot Games. It will be in the same universe with League of Legends (unlike Project A). Legends of Runeterra will feature iconic champions from League of Legends, as well as other characters that have not had chances to show up in the MOBA title. This game will be completely free to play, but you still can drop some real money into Legends of Runeterra.

Announcing League of Legends Animated Series called ‘Arcane’

Riot Games has been releasing many animated cinematic videos and animated music videos for years, and all of those videos are successful. So many LoL fans have been waiting for this announcement of these game developers. In the announcement, Riot Games confirmed that Arcane would take Piltover and Zaun as the two first background cities of this first animated series. This series will be released in 2020, and there will be more animated series from Riot Games if Arcane is successful.

League of Legends Esports Manager. Yes, it is a totally new game from Riot Games

We have been playing sports management simulating games for many years, so why not an esports-management simulating game. Riot Games seemingly want to be the first gaming company to catch the new trend, so they have just announced the League of Legends Esports Manager, a simulating game about LoL esports. Players of this game will work to build their own LoL pro teams by acquiring pro players for their teams.

This game will receive update patches regularly, and Riot Games also announced a plan to share the revenue of this game for pro teams and pro players. This is an excellent way to encourage pro teams and players of LoL to develop themselves further.

League of Legends Origins Is a Feature-length Documentary Series About LoL

We have been bringing you news and information about the future projects of Riot Games, how about something that this game developer has already released? In this tenth anniversary of League of Legends, Riot Games has hired Leslie Iwerks – a documentary filmmaker with Academy Award nomination – to make League of Legends Origins. This is a documentary film telling us about the 10-year journey of League of Legends from a free MOBA game to a giant in the gaming industry.

Last but not least, Preseason updates for League of Legends

League of Legends is having its 9th World Championship – the biggest LoL esports tournament of the year. Normally, this is the time for Riot Games to roll out big changes before a new season of the game – the preseason update. This year, the preseason update will be named Rise of the Elements. As the name has pointed out, the focus of this year's preseason update will be the Elemental Drakes of the game.

One more thing, League of Legends players will be welcoming a totally new champion of the game – Senna. Now having new champions is not a strange thing for LoL players, but this will be the first “marksman-like support” of this MOBA title. We will have to wait and see what her skills are specifically.
