Codemasters often creates some of the best and most immersive racing games.]]>

Certainly, Codemasters, the renowned British game developer, is a dominant force in the realm of racing games, having created some of the most exceptional titles in this genre. After being acquired by EA a few years back, Codemasters continued their collaboration, contributing significantly to projects like the F1 franchise. However, this compilation zeroes in on their independent period, specifically spotlighting the finest racing games ever created.

Established in 1986, Codemasters gained recognition not only for their racing games but also for successful RPGs like the Overlord series. However, in the late '90s, they shifted their focus primarily to racing, introducing iconic series like TOCA and Colin McRae. Since then, they have produced outstanding racing simulation games. The question remains: which one stands out as their ultimate masterpiece?

1. F1 2010

F1 2010, positioned at the pinnacle, marked a significant turning point in the racing game landscape. It represented Codemasters' inaugural venture into the F1 series and signaled the revival of licensed products in the market after a prolonged hiatus. The advancement it brought was monumental. This game swiftly garnered an extensive F1 gaming community, largely owing to its revolutionary career mode.

F1 2010

In this mode, players embarked on a journey from a lower-tier team, steadily ascending the ranks through consistent performance. They had the opportunity to become the primary driver, honing their skills, enhancing the car during practice sessions, and pushing their abilities to the maximum. In essence, it was truly exceptional.

2. F1 2020

The final installment in the F1 series before EA's acquisition saw Codemasters giving their all in F1 2020, as if they were reserving something special for the conclusion.

F1 2020

They introduced fresh gameplay mechanics, extensive customization, the innovative My Team mode, a diverse array of accessibility features, career mode enhancements such as driver swaps, and the inclusion of classic cars and drivers for your team. Its ranking in second place is likely attributed to the nostalgia factor.

3. Colin McRae: DiRT 2

Considered one of their most praised creations, Colin McRae DiRT 2, launched in 2009, stands as a deserving contender for a top spot. It possessed a distinctive vibe, merging arcade-style physics with simulation gameplay—a departure from Codemasters' usual approach. The incorporation of diverse modes attracted varied audiences, catering to both casual gamers and dedicated enthusiasts. However, a drawback was noted in the absence of weather effects and track degradation.

4. F1 2017

It's hardly surprising. The top-tier games on the list are predominantly dominated by Codemasters' F1 franchise, a series they crafted seemingly from nothing. Motorsport's reigning champion warranted an annual release that could stand shoulder to shoulder with major sports titles like NBA 2K, FIFA, and Madden, and Codemasters delivered.

F1 2017

However, F1 2017 earns its place on the list as one of their finest achievements after nearly a decade of dedicated effort and ongoing improvement. The franchise's growing popularity and its gameplay's respected quality marked a milestone: F1 2017 became the first F1 game to enter the realm of eSports competitions.

5. Colin McRae Rally 2.0

An undeniably timeless masterpiece, cherished by enthusiasts of racing games and rallying alike, Colin McRae Rally 2.0 made its debut in 2000 for PlayStation, PC, and Game Boy Advance. Remarkably, its graphics could be mistaken for a PlayStation 2 game, and a decent one at that.

Colin Mcrae Rally 2 0

During its release, this game stood out as the finest and most realistic rally video game available. Its only notable drawback was the relatively brief length of the tracks.

6. Race Driver: Grid

In 2008, Codemasters departed from the prevailing trend of car collecting games and instead, created a game solely centered around racing, without any frills. The inaugural installment of the Grid series remains one of their highest-rated games on Metacritic. It's a racing game highly praised for its simplicity and excellence in execution.

While other games often attempt to incorporate too many elements, Grid focused on the essentials and perfected them. Every aspect, including the cars, tracks, physics, and gameplay, was meticulously crafted. It's rare to find games as finely polished as Grid was at its initial launch in today's gaming landscape.

7. DiRT Rally

Beyond their expertise in F1, street racing, and driving simulators, Codemasters truly excelled in the realm of rally games. DiRT Rally, launched in 2015 for PC and slightly later on consoles, felt like the pinnacle of the DiRT series. In reality, the game's authenticity made it exceptionally challenging for newcomers.

It became a benchmark, distinguishing casual players from true racing enthusiasts. Whether players found it approachable or not, when a racing game accurately represents the sport with such fidelity and depth, it undoubtedly deserves recognition as one of the best, even if it doesn't cater to a broad audience.

8. TOCA Race Driver 2: The Ultimate Driving Simulator

While Grid 2 aimed to compete with top-tier games, TOCA Race Driver 2 truly achieved this feat. It stood out as one of the finest and most polished racing games of its era, becoming a timeless classic, especially on PlayStation 2.

Launched in 2004, the game offered a wealth of diverse content, boasting impressive graphics. Notably, it allowed players to switch to a Hardcore simulation mode, providing one of the most realistic racing experiences available at that time.

9. Grid 2

Returning to their area of expertise for the remainder of this list, Codemasters truly excelled in crafting the most advanced racing simulations, consistently setting the bar for other developers to aspire to. In Grid 2, they showcased stunning graphics in terms of damage modeling and physics.

The game's career mode, where players gained more fans based on their race performances, coupled with the variety of cars and tracks, and the overall gameplay, transformed this installment into a remarkably robust sequel. It posed a significant threat to the esteemed legacy of Gran Turismo, solidifying its place in the racing game saga.

10. F1 Race Stars

While some valuable games, such as their inaugural racing game BMX Simulator, might have been overlooked, F1 Race Stars shouldn't be consigned to the realm of "forgotten" titles. This attempt at blending Mario Kart-like gameplay with the F1 license turned out rather well and warrants consideration as one of the standout options in this category.

F1 Race Stars

The tracks boasted fantastic and enjoyable designs, and the thrill of racing alongside both current and legendary F1 drivers was undeniably appealing. Overall, it was a commendable game. However, the decision to omit sliding, a feature common in this game genre, didn't sit quite right, although, to be fair, sliding in an F1 car might not be realistic. The game was released in 2012, with another edition for Wii U following in 2013. It's an idea that could certainly make a comeback in this gaming generation.

In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the top 10 best racing games to play on Android and iOS in 2023.

1. Rush Rally 3

For those who love rally racing, Rush Rally 3 is a must-try game. It provides a racing simulation on your phone that is almost as good as console quality. The game has various solo and multiplayer mode for you to choose from, and its controller support + touch control system can be customized at will.

Its real time damage system make the game more realistic as colliding with other objects or vehicles would make your car will accurately deform and break. Although the graphics may not be the most cutting-edge, if you are looking for an authentic rally experience, this game is the way to go.

2. GRID Autosport

The Android version of GRID Autosport is one of the most recent versions of the game, which was originally released in 2014 on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Although the game's graphics may seem somewhat outdated nowadays, it remains the best option available on the Play Store for experiencing a console-like racing game. Despite its age, the game still includes several modern racing features, such as soft body deformation.

In contrast to Asphalt 9's arcade racing style, GRID Autosport provides a more authentic experience. To fully immerse yourself in the game, it is recommended to use a controller.

3. Asphalt 9: Legends

Achieving the ideal blend between an arcade racer and a racing simulation is Asphalt 9. Although the game uses real-world vehicles, components, and locations, its main emphasis is on the racing experience rather than the pressure of precisely timing gear changes. The game is simple to pick up yet offers a respectable amount of difficulty. The range of control options offered to the player in Asphalt 9—including tilt-steering, touch controls, and a feature that helps with acceleration and steering—improves the game's accessibility. Even if it's not totally automated, this choice makes the game more enjoyable without taking away from the need to move quickly to win. Asphalt 9 is the best game to get if you want to play it on an Android tablet.

4. Horizon Chase

A retro-style racing game with many quality-of-life features is called Horizon Chase. Despite a few contemporary improvements, it nonetheless preserves its roots and caters to individuals who grew up playing racing games in the early 1990s. Bold colors, precise polygons, and a variety of seasons and weather situations show that appealing racing games may be made without using high-fidelity visuals.

Horizon Chase, although having a more straightforward design, offers just as many exciting conclusions as Asphalt 9. It is the perfect option for anyone looking for a quick, enjoyable, and straightforward racing experience.

5. Trials Frontier

Motorcycle racing may be exciting, despite the fact that racing is typically associated with cars. Unfortunately, Android does not have a lot of high-quality motorbike racing games. Trials Frontier, on the other hand, is a fantastic alternative that combines stunt performance with racing, making it a well-liked option for winning leaderboards.

Trials Frontier may not appeal to those who like a realistic racing game, but it outperforms most of its rivals in terms of pure entertainment value. It is commonly regarded as the top Android motorcycle game.

6. CSR 2

Try CSR 2 if you're having problems in GRID Autosport perfecting your corner drifts. With this game's emphasis on drag racing, you can improve your gear-changing skills rather than your cornering ability. In the incredibly realistic simulator CSR 2, you can completely modify and race the car of your choice.

Even though the game encourages microtransactions, you can still play it for free. If you want a mobile high-speed racing game, this is a fantastic option.

7. Mario Kart Tour

One of the most well-known racing game franchises is Mario Kart, and Mario Kart Tour has now made a reputation for itself after a few years of dubious design decisions. With several unique features, it offers the traditional Mario Kart experience on mobile devices. For instance, the "Tour" component relates to tracks based on actual places, and there are new, original game types.

Maxresdefault 3

Mario Kart Tour is primarily a multiplayer game that lets you compete against other players locally or globally. Although rank advancement will be fun for competitive players, this amazing racing game is especially suited to casual players. Don't be hesitant to give this one a try if you can't play Mario Kart on a Nintendo console; you won't be sorry.

8. Data Wing

Data Wing is evidence that authentic environments or licensed vehicles aren't necessary for a fantastic racing game. Instead, it uses plain forms and neon lights to produce an exciting racing experience. Despite its brief length, the game stands out from the other racing games on this list thanks to its story-driven design.

Maxresdefault 4

Despite not supporting controllers, Data Wing is a true arcade game that is engrossing from start to finish. Others may welcome the break from the competitive atmosphere, while some players may miss the ability to play with others in multiplayer mode. To compete for the fastest times, there are leaderboards accessible.

9. Rush Rally Origins

Top-down racing games may not have the same level of realism as classic first-person racing games, but they may still put your driving skills to the test. With influences from its forerunners, Rush Rally Origins is a strong contender in its genre and offers a thrilling rally experience.

Rush Rally Origins' adaptability in terms of controls is one of its advantages. Depending on their preference, players can connect a controller or use the on-screen controls. Additionally, Play Pass customers can access the game for free, making it a great choice for anyone seeking for a top-notch racing game without having to pay for it.

10. Assoluto Racing

Assoluto Racing, a competitive track racing game that uses physics to let you drift while maintaining complete control of your car, striking a balance between realistic and arcade-style racing features. This is something you won't want to miss if you liked Asphalt 9.

Beyond merely visual improvements, the game offers a vast range of customizing choices. To suit your tastes, you can modify the gear ratios, the torque, the horsepower, or the suspension. <![CDATA[List Of The Best Racing Games For PC (2023)]]> https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/list-of-the-best-racing-games-for-pc-2023-22090 Fri, 21 Apr 2023 07:22:00 +0000 https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/list-of-the-best-racing-games-for-pc-2023-22090
Below are our selections for the top racing games to play at the moment, primarily contemporary titles, as advancements in technology often enhance the genre.]]>

Which PC racing games are the most enjoyable? Whether you prefer navigating through muddy tracks in Dirt Rally 2.0 or exploring the beautiful landscapes of Forza Horizon 5 in Mexico, these games are the top choices. It is suggested that using a controller or a wheel would enhance the experience, rather than a mouse and keyboard.

Unfortunately, Gran Turismo 7 is not currently available on PC, but there are still many exceptional racing games to choose from that cater to different preferences.

1. Forza Horizon 5

Playground Games' latest racing game, which is set in Mexico, has an open-world arcade style and is called Forza Horizon 5. It is larger than the previous game, Horizon 4, which was based in the British Isles, by 50%. The game's environment includes open desert roads, quaint Mexican towns, and breathtaking canyons. Additionally, the game features new seasonal effects, such as storms that can create sudden ferocious winds.

Best Racing Games Forza Horizon 5
Forza Horizon 5

Although there have not been significant changes apart from the weather, it is still a great game as Playground Games has perfected the racing game format. You can choose from various types of races, co-op campaigns, stunt jumps, seasonal championships, and endurance tests, and drive different speedy and stylish vehicles, including modified dune buggies, pick-up trucks, and one-off hypercars.

With weekly changes in the in-game seasons, new events appear alongside them, offering more content to enjoy. Completing these events will earn you points that can be redeemed for exclusive cars.

2. Dirt Rally 2.0

Dirt Rally 2.0 is a hardcore racing game that might not be suitable for players who are unfamiliar with rally racing. If you prefer a more relaxed driving experience where you drive from point A to B faster than usual, Dirt 5 might be a better option. In Rally 2.0, your co-driver will provide instructions, numbers, and directions quickly and frequently. If you can't handle the various terrains and hairpin turns, you might crash into a tree before you know it.

Best Racing Games Dirt Rally 2
Dirt Rally 2.0

As mentioned in our Dirt Rally 2.0 PC review, the game is designed to be hardcore and unforgiving, unlike casual racing games. Failure is common, and even minor mistakes can result in harsh consequences. The intense crashes overwhelm the senses, and if you fall behind, the surface degradation feature makes even driving straight a challenge. However, if you're familiar with rally racing, there are few better games that capture the essence of this demanding discipline than Dirt Rally 2.0.

Players should expect to crash frequently since there is no tutorial, and they will only learn from their repeated trips to the hospital. Additionally, the procedural track-generating system, Your Stage, is not included in this version. Instead, each race is meticulously hand-crafted, requiring devoted fans to memorize every twist and turn. That's the only way to master Dirt Rally 2.0, and if you don't embrace its singular vision, you will most likely end up finishing last.

3. Shift 2

Shift 2 strikes a balance between realism and accessibility that is difficult to find in other racing games. It's not just the handling of the cars that is menacing yet capable, but also the way the game considers what players need to perform at a high level. Instead of a fixed view from the hood or requiring TrackIR for head movement, Shift 2 has a dynamic view that adjusts subtly based on the situation. When approaching a gentle right-hand turn, for example, the view shifts slightly as the driver avatar looks toward the apex, while for a sharper corner, the view swings more for a clearer sense of direction.

Best Racing Games Shift 2
Shift 2

The attention to detail also extends to the depth-of-field effect, which is often overused in other games but is used effectively in Shift 2 to draw attention to where it's needed. Objects in the distance become fuzzier when a car is closing in on you, while mirrors become clearer for a sharper view of what's behind. In traffic, the cockpit becomes less distinct, but other cars come into focus. All of these effects contribute to a natural driving experience that feels like driving a real car. Overall, Shift 2 is a game that focuses on the fun and satisfaction of performance driving, and it does so with great success.

4. Wreckfest

The objective in Wreckfest is to usually win the race, but winning doesn't always mean coming in first. To lessen the health of the other racers and improve your chances of winning, you can also cause damage to their vehicles. If you're confident in your driving, another option is to try to outpace every competitor. The game also offers a variety of vehicles to pick from and elimination modes in which the last vehicle standing wins. The damage model is impressively accurate, and you can pit vehicles as varied as school buses and golf buggies against each other. With its humorous and entertaining gameplay, Wreckfest is a great game to play with friends online.

5. Project Cars 2

Real cars don't usually spin out of control the moment you turn the steering wheel or press the gas pedal. They are designed to handle corners with ease. Project Cars 2 takes this into account and makes performance cars even better at turning. When you drive a Ferrari or Lamborghini in the game, you'll have more fun than worry about not having a rewind button in real life.

Best Racing Games Project Cars 2
Project Cars 2

Slightly Mad Studios is aware that many driving simulators make driving overly difficult, and they've made an effort to fix this problem in Project Cars 2. The cars in the game handle well, even when you accelerate hard. Even if you use a steering wheel rather than a controller, mistakes are still possible, although they don't always result in a collision with a trackside barrier. The follow-up offers a larger variety of vehicles and a more predetermined career mode while maintaining player autonomy. The AI opponents are also better, and there's a fantastic weather system that takes into account various factors to produce stunning rain and wet weather effects. Overall, Project Cars 2 feels more like real driving than most other racing games.

6. Art of Rally

Although an isometric racing game doesn't sound like a promising concept, Art of Rally is an exception and is possibly the most delightful racing game available. It blends a stylized, minimalistic art style with rally cars spanning from the 1960s to the infamous Group B in the '80s. You can explore open world environments to hunt for collectibles or progress through traditional rally stages, all set against stunning and vibrant backgrounds. The soundtrack is fitting and comprises mellow, lo-fi tunes that accompany you on your journey through countries such as Finland, Germany, and Kenya. Art of Rally may not be a typical racing game, but it is the most distinctive one on this list.

7. TrackMania 2: Canyon

Experienced gamers know that well-designed tracks are crucial for a top-notch racing game, and this is where TrackMania 2: Canyon excels. While other racing games may be satisfied with hairpin bends or high-speed straights, TrackMania 2: Canyon takes a unique approach with Hot Wheels-inspired tracks that feature sweeping barrel-rolls, impossible jumps, and platforms that defy the laws of physics. What really sets this game apart is the online community where players can race on the imaginative, complex tracks created by others.

Best Racing Games Trackmania 2 Canyon
TrackMania 2: Canyon

The multiplayer competition is fast-paced and intense, with missed jumps and unexpected turns leading to comical moments. The game's racing mechanics are easy to pick up, making it a great multiplayer game to play for hours without realizing. Despite the easy controls, winning first place on the absurd tracks is a challenging feat.

8. F1 22

F1 22 is the most recent release in the official Formula One game franchise, developed by racing game veterans Codemasters and published by EA. The dropping of '20' from the game title is due to the change in publisher. The inclusion of supercars and F1 Life cosmetics has received mixed feedback from fans, but the wheel-to-wheel racing experience has been improved thanks to the new real-life car designs. The game now mimics real-life tyre temperatures, making it more challenging to get the perfect start off the line if your tyres aren't warmed up during the formation lap.

Best Racing Games F1 22
F1 22

The game offers the standard single-player career mode, as well as time trials and online multiplayer. The two-player co-op career mode, which debuted in F1 2021, has also returned. Additional content is being added on a regular basis, such as one-off liveries for McLaren and Alpine, the entire F2 season, new MyTeam icons like Mika Hakkinen, and new in-game tracks like the Shanghai International Circuit. If you're looking for a chance to experience driving the fastest motorsport in the world, F1 22 is the game for you.

9. Driver: San Francisco

Driver: San Francisco is a game that embodies coolness and would be the perfect representation of Steve McQueen if he was a video game character. The game has an overall 70s style and showcases American muscle cars, intense driving, and the hilly and winding roads of San Francisco. It also boasts a fantastic soundtrack and diverse event types.

Best Racing Games Driver San Fransisco
Driver: San Francisco

Being able to instantaneously swap between any car on the road, as opposed to being bound to one, is one of the game's most distinctive characteristics. This implies that the vehicle you start a race in might not be the one you finish it in, and that you might teleport across traffic to confuse and annoy your rivals during chases.

10. GRID Legends

The GRID series has undergone many changes, but the latest game's single player mode draws inspiration from Netflix's Drive to Survive series, a dramatic documentary focused on Formula One. This mode includes real-life interviews with fictional characters and racing scenarios in which you compete against several opponents to establish yourself in motorsport.

Best Racing Games Grid Legends
GRID Legends

Additionally, there are numerous multiplayer game modes available, and the drop-in/drop-out function lets you control AI racers in real-time competition at any time. There is still enough of exciting racing to be had even though it is not a racing simulator and leans more toward an arcade approach.

Here we present our picks of the best racing games to play right now - mostly modern, because this is a genre that tends to improve with technology.]]>

Racing games are a video game genre in which the player participates in a racing competition. They may be based on anything from real-world racing leagues to fantastical settings. In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the top 4 best racing games to play on PC in 2022.

1. Forza Horizon 5

Forza Horizon 5 is a masterclass example of how to do an open-world racing game, bar none. Thanks to its deeply rich map, wealth of content, and fantastic visuals, it's the best racing experience I've had yet.

The Horizon games basically let you do your own thing and let you go at your own pace. It's a game you can play when you don't really feel like playing or feel like challenging yourself. Whether you plan to 100% all the content or just freeroam in your favorite cars doing small challenges. The online modes let you compete or work together with other players or you could just drive in a convoy with friends.

Forza Horizon 5 Gameplay

If you never played a Forza Horizon title, this is pretty much the best place to start with this title being the newest one. The most noticeable improvement compared to FH4 would probably be engine sounds and a much larger map. Some people like the greens of FH4's map, but I have my bias for dry deserts full of cactus and wet jungles. If dirt or cross-country racing is your thing, you will feel right at home.

2. CarX Drift Racing Online

CarX Drift Racing Online is as its name implies, a racing game that focuses on drifting. Though it does have online in the title, it does have a single-player component to it as well.

Carx 1

The selection within the game is satisfying with the single-player mode having several different game modes from drifts, time attacks and tandem race with others; and numerous cars to gain and modify as you play and progress. With the steam workshop, there are also hundreds of cars and mods to add to the game too.

The gameplay itself is both enjoyable and satisfying with the many tracks to play as you earn points within by drifting, and the driving of course with it being a driving game. Having played both the modes in single-player and some multiplayer games, both parts are fun to play. Driving and controlling the cars lean more towards simulation rather than arcade since the feel of it is more realistic. So those that are more interested in simulation-type games may enjoy it more, but it is enjoyable, nonetheless. Playerbase is quite active, which is important with the online portion being a focus of the game, so you can easily find people to play with.

Carx

The visuals and graphics of the game are amazing with both the cars themselves and the various tracks. This is especially so in the higher-end quality graphics setting making the graphics more detailed and crisper. The UI when racing is also well done with how it is laid out without being too cluttered.

3. The Crew 2

It's surprising to see just how much The Crew 2 differs from the original game. There's been a noticeable shift in Ubisoft’s last few open-world titles, one that's moving toward a focus on player-driven progression--large selections of optional activities, non-linear structures, rewards for doing just about anything--and The Crew 2 benefits significantly from this direction. The gritty crime angle from the original game is gone, and instead, The Crew 2 takes reams of pages from the book of Forza Horizon.

The Crew 2

The game centers on a nationwide festival of motorsports where you, a rookie, are poised to become the next big star. While the setup is conventional, and the focus on social media fame is obnoxious, what it brings to the game is a colorful and upbeat vibe, an impressive variety of different disciplines, and positively ridiculous arcade driving on land, water, and through the air.

The Crew 2 Review 0

Despite the game's focus on real-world branding and mimicry of televised motorsports, The Crew 2's greatest asset is its willingness to be ridiculous. Races in The Crew 2 might involve jumping your street-racing car off skyscrapers, or your powerboat off the Hoover Dam. They might include making high-speed touring cars go head to head through the tight, windy Hollywood Hills, and motocross bikes take jumps across shipping freighters and freeways right before you transform into a prop plane like some kind of extreme-sports mecha. This is a game that will cover Los Angeles in three feet of snow for no logical reason other than icy roads make for more thrilling street races. Abundant nitro boosts, uncomplicated drifting, and generous rubber-banding also help keep the act of driving exciting when things are relatively tame.

4. Assetto Corsa

Assetto Corsa is a racing simulator that aims to recreate real-life driving as closely as possible. This means that all the steering and driving input using any type of input whether it’s on a Racing Wheel, Game Controller analog stick, mouse using mouse steer or keyboard (which is not recommended, please do not try playing with a keyboard) is controlling the steering wheel of the car, not the car itself. So, precision controlling the steering is a must to be able to play this game/simulator.

5ad913c9ae653a83242f15c2

The player can turn the steering wheel too much or the car won’t turn (this is called understeer). Therefore, it’s not recommended to play with a keyboard because keyboard input is not precise enough and will turn the steering wheel all the way. At the very least using the mouse to steer (there is an option in the setting) might be hard at first but if you do have any other controller. For game controller user, the same apply to you just don’t push the analog stick too far and you will be good.

Assetto Corsa Competizione 20200629210023

If you understand this, with a lot of practice, you will have an enjoyable time with this game/simulator. This game/simulator is a launcher based meaning if you press start to start driving in the game but to change any setting you need to do most of it in the launcher.

Assetto Corsa have no story. The game is started with the launcher which gives access to so Career mode, Quick Play mode, Practice, Online, etc. Career mode is for gathering medals for completing races or time trials on set tracks with set cars of someone looking for a goal to play toward or go play Assetto Corsa Competizione but the main part of this game is about driving the car so I would suggest playing the Practice for the driving experience.

Table Top Racing: World Tour is a popular car racer/battler that has now made its way over to Android following its release on other platforms.]]>

If you are a fan of racing games on mobile, then you have probably played or at the very least heard of Playrise Digital's Table Top Racing in some of its multiple variants. The original Table Top Racing was released all the way back in 2013 for mobile as an intense arcade car racer/battler in which you control miniaturized vehicles armed with different weapons to race around different courses. Then in 2016, a second game in the series titled Table Top Racing: World Tour was released for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The most recent article we have on this franchise was back in November 2019 when World Tour was launched for the iOS platform. Now, it has finally made its way to Android as well.

This mobile version has seen many tweaks and adjustments, making it a better version of the Switch port we got in January last year. First off, it’s capable of running at a satisfying 60FPS – provided your device is strong enough, of course. Moreover, the Android version is compatible with Android TV controllers, while those who own iOS 13+ devices can play the game with an MFi, a DualShock 4, or an Xbox One controller.

The game comes with controller & crossplay supports

Perhaps the greatest feature is crossplay between Android and iOS. You'll also be able to play with a friend, either via the internet or the good ol’ offline split-screen couch battles.

This is undoubtedly the most polished Table Top Racing game we’ve had so far, which is saying a lot considering that the original game already offered a sizable amount of content. This version features 16 unique vehicles to collect and customize, 32 difficult tracks to overcome, and nearly 200 events to participate in. If you are a newcomer to the genre and are confused by the fact that there are so many different versions of the game available, just get this one – you won’t regret it.

There are only a few screenshots of the game available, so it’s not quite clear how much control you’ll actually have during the races. Hopefully it will be an actual racing experience and not just simply holding a button and hope your car is the fastest of the pack.

Hopefully we'll get a fully-fledged racing experience

A beta test for Overdrive City is reportedly running “in select regions” at the moment, though it has not been specified which regions these are. The game is now available for pre-registration on Google Play and is also promised to be coming to iOS in 2020 as well, so iOS users need not fear being left out. <![CDATA[Fast And Furious Crossroads Is Bandai Namco's New Game In The Famous Franchise!]]> https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/fast-and-furious-crossroads-pc-ps4-xbox-one-8240 Tue, 17 Dec 2019 10:11:00 +0000 https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/fast-and-furious-crossroads-pc-ps4-xbox-one-8240
Featuring a lot of actions, adrenaline-pump races, and a different story!]]>

The Game Award 2019 sees many reveals of a lot of beautiful games to come in 2020, such as Godfall, Naraka: Bladepoint or Ori and the Will of the Wisps. However, Fast and Furious Crossroads is definitely not one of them.

Even though the game takes the inspiration from the famous movie series that looks hell-a-beautiful with shining cars and high-stake races, this game features horrible visuals design that is far away from today's standard. It's very strange since Bandai Namco has long been known as the publisher with beautiful video game adaptations.

Hence, the new trailer of Fast and Furious Crossroads at The Game Award 2019 raised a lot of questions in the gaming community. You can see it below to check for yourself, and come back to us for the details and preview:

Overview on Fast and Furious Crossroads

Fast and Furious Crossroads is the new action-packed game from the developer Slightly Mad Studio - the creative minds behind the ultra-realistic racing game Project CARS. This comes as no surprise, as previously, the CEO of the studio has accidentally spoiled that it has secured an exclusive contract to develop a Fast and Furious game. Bandai Namco will take the responsibility of bringing this game to the public.

Slightly Mad Studios is the developer of this game

To be more specific, Fast and Furious Crossroads will not tell any story from any movies of the franchise, but will feature a new authentic one. In this game, you'll follow the titular characters of the series, including Dominic Torreto (voiced by Vin Diesel), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and Roman (Tyrese Gibson) on a brand new high-speed journey full of heists, races and stunts in a lot of famous locations on Earth.

Meet our favorite heroes in a brand new story

The trailer doesn't tell us much about the upcoming story apart from several Easter eggs: just Dom and his crew on the adventure to protect a family of strangers while fighting with an unknown threat. Instead, it focuses more on the racing parts, with gadgets, cars, fast-paced cinematic scenes, and heart-pounding actions. The developer confirmed that there will be a multiplayer mode revealed in the future apart from the Story mode.

The game has a single-player story mode and a soon-to-be-announced Multiplayer mode

But even the racing actions of this game looks terrible in the trailer. The cars are very dirty and look like they come from the first Fast and Furious movie in 2006, and the character visualization is not beautiful either. I hope that this happened only due to the fact that the game's still under development, and it will look much more completed in the future.

Fast and Furious Crossroads looks like an F&F movie in 2006

Both Bandai Namco and Slightly Mad Studio is capable of that, and I'm looking forward to what they can do to improve the game.

Release date

Fast and Furious Crossroads is aimed to release in May 2020. At launch, the game will support PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Super Arcade Racing is a racer game inspired by the arcade game of the 80s-90s. It is available right now for mobile devices.]]>

If you are a fan of racing games, especially those with a retro art style, then Super Arcade Racing from London-based developer OutOfTheBit is an early Christmas gift for you. According to theclassicarcades.com, this is a 2D racer that’s heavily inspired by the arcade games of the 80s-90s. Its 16-bit aesthetics, synth soundtracks, and bird’s-eye perspective are sure to pump your nostalgia to a whole new level. Check out the game’s trailer below:

But of course, we all know that good racing games are more than just hoping inside a car and firing up the engines. They give you a reason to race. With Super Arcade Racing, you’ll step in the shoes of a guy named Mick. With his brother having been kidnapped by a shady organization, Mick must now enter the unlawful world of street racing to get to the roots of things and rescue the sibling. As you progress through the single-player campaign – which includes 60 levels and plenty of tough bosses to beat – the story will gradually unfold. Let us warn you, though: there will be some twists on the way, and we are not talking about the tracks.

That said, the game is admittedly somewhat lacking in terms of vehicle variety: You only have 1 car to race in throughout its entirety. Thankfully, the car can be upgraded and customized extensively in the garage. As you win races and earn prizes, you can use your winnings to buy better brakes, better tires, and stronger engines. There are also several cosmetic options for you to alter your car’s appearance.

The tracks, meanwhile, are pretty diverse, spanning across deserts, forests, and more. And when you’ve completed the story, you can put your driving skills to the test in the various challenge modes or against other players in the multiplayer mode.

Super Arcade Racing is available right now on both Google Play and the App Store for free.

After launching for the Nintendo Switch earlier this year, Table Top Racing: World Tour - Nitro Edition is now available on the App Store as well.]]>

Table Top Racing: World Tour - Nitro Edition was first introduced to the gamer community earlier this year through the Nintendo Switch. Now, it has made its way over to the iOS platform. Check out the game’s trailer below:

As its title suggests, Table Top Racing: World Tour is a racer game in which you’ll use miniature vehicles to race around various tracks. The game also offers 8 unique power-ups to pick up along the way, which will give you an advantage over your competition. These power-ups can range from offensive to defensive ones: Some cause damage to opponents or hinder their movements, while others can grant additional protection to your own car.

Aside from that, you can equip your vehicle with 6 types of weapon wheels to lay waste to anyone that stands in your path. An example of this is the “spike wheel”, which has pointy ends sticking out on its side. With this, you can drive next to an opponent and then swerve into them to inflict damage.

In terms of vehicle choices, there are 16 cars for you to pick, which include traditional-looking race cars as well as less conventional racing vehicles like vans or even beetles. Basically, there will definitely be something for everyone. You'll also be able to upgrade them as well.

The Switch version of Table Top Racing: World Tour - Nitro Edition has been praised by many for its sizable single-player campaign, which can offer more than 25 hours’ worth of content. Meanwhile, multiplayer races can see up to 8 players duking it out across dozens of tracks to see who is the best driver. That said, some reviews have criticized the on-track action as lackluster.

In any case, Table Top Racing: World Tour - Nitro Edition can be found on the App Store right now as a premium app priced at $4.99 (Rs 350).

After spending about 2 years on iOS, the acclaimed racer game Grid Autosport is finally ready to make the jump to Android. It will hit the Google Play Store next week on the 26th of November, courtesy of Feral Interactive – the same studio behind several mobile ports of classic games such as ROME: Total War Alexander and Tropico.

Grid Autosport started out a console game released back in 2014 for PS3 and Xbox 360 where it was praised by many players. Since then, it has been ported to iOS and more recently to the Nintendo Switch. The iOS version also received a lot of good reviews, so we have high expectations for the upcoming Android release.

In case you have not heard of Grid Autosport, it’s a racer game in which you become a pro-racer and compete in 5 different racing styles. There are around a hundred cars and tracks to play with, so basically you’re in for a ton of high-speed action here.

The upcoming Android version will utilize both tilt and touch screen controls to deliver an experience that strikes a balance between arcade-style driving and realism. You'll use the phone like a steering wheel, while there will also be several onscreen buttons for controlling the speed of your vehicle.

You can only control your snow rider for a short time before letting it go freely!]]>

Racing games have always been about controlling, drifting and lay down traps to obstruct other racers. However, the more we experience this kind of gameplay, the more we lose interest in the genre that's seeing saturation now, both in realistic racing games and cartoon-like racing games.

So, indie developers like Bonsai Treehouse have to make something unique to earn some room in the genre. And now, we have Snowdown - a funny snow-sliding game about losing control. Instead of drifting your 'inflatable tube' like a real racer, you'll have to sit back and watch it slide on its own before being able to control it again!

Below is the trailer for this chaotic game, which you can have a look:

The concept of Snowdown

Unlike other racing games, Snowdown doesn't stand out for its ultra-realistic graphics or complicated controling system. In fact, its visuals still look quite shabby, and you only need one hand to control everything in this game. Instead, Snowdown is special for its unique concept - losing control.

Snowdown will put you in a colorful tube hurling down a snowy hill to the finish line. The special thing about that is you won't be able to control your tube every time, as you only have a limited control bar. It's on the top-middle of the screen, showing a timer-like bar that illustrates how long can you steering your tube to keep it on the track.

Snowdown Is A Unique Racing Game With Limited Cont
The timer on the top will show you how long can you control your tube

The bar will gradually drop, and the more you make corrections to your pathing, the quicker your controlling time will run out. Hence, making too many fiddles will leave you unable to change your route anymore, and you can't do anything else but just stand back, relax and rely on destiny.

Snowdown Is A Unique Racing Game With Limited Cont
Just see how the racers are enjoying their no-control ride!

But that situation doesn't last forever, as there will be some Time Gates scattering on the map to give you some extra controlling time. In short, you'll have to be both careful and careless at the same time - taking care of your main route somewhat carelessly while calculating your timer carefully. Or just forget what I said, and just enjoy playing the way you do!

Other features

However, the fun doesn't just end so easily. Besides the Time Gates, Snowdown features some Hazard Rings as well, which will trigger dangerous traps on the map every time you pass through. While it will probably not knock you out of the tube, it will surely cause mayhem by changing the path that you've calculated earlier, making the races much more frantic.

There are a lot of traps on every map

Even better, as all of these chaotic accidents will be captured and shown on your screen with a real-time cut. With that, you can enjoy leaning back and laugh at your opponents' fail while having no controlling time left. Powered by Unreal Engine, you can expect those scenes to be quite detailed and hilarious!

Last but not least, Snowdown allows you to play both solo and multiplayer. The multiplayer options vary from online competitive to split-screen couch racing, in which you can enjoy the game with your friends without any problems whatsoever. Together with over 50 kinds of silly tubes that you can choose from, the game is perfect for really enjoyable racing times with friends.

Snowdown is now available on Itch.io, which you only have to pay $3.00 for each copy of the game. The developer Bonsai Treehouse will continue to bring newer content to Snowdown in the future, so you can enjoy racing with your friends with new funny stuff again and again.

Are you ready to get on the ride with your Touhou waifus?]]>

Kart racing games were too mainstream at this moment with Mario Kart or Garfield Kart, so developers need to have new unique ideas to steal the spotlights. So, what about racing on the back of your Touhou favorite girls?

Gensou SkyDrift takes exactly this concept, as it is the unique racing game where you take control of a girl from Touhou and sky-drifting on the back of another girl! The game was announced yesterday and will come to PC, Switch, and PS4 very soon!

Here's the trailer of Gensou SkyDrift, which you can watch to see how fun this double-rider game looks:

Overview on Gensou SkyDrift

Gensou SkyDrift is a new racing game from the developer Unites Games that take the magical world and characters of Touhou Project into the roster. To be more specific, you'll choose two from 20 playable magical girls from Touhou and join the neck-breaking high-speed race in the beautiful sky of Gensokyo.

Gensou SkyDrift introduce a fun way to play with the fan-favorite girls of Touhou Project

But you might question: why we have to choose two characters? The answer is very simple if you watch the trailer: the vehicle that you're riding on is your partner! In detail, one will stay on the top and control the other girl flying to the finish line. Even better, you can freely switch the position of the two at any time you want.

Another question arises: What's the point of switching? Well, each 'driver' has her unique controlling stats and skills, which you can make the best use out of certain situations. Hence, switching between the two girls allows you to diversify your strategy. Mastering the skills of all 20 characters will be crucial to make you and your partner the final winners.

Additionally, Gensou SkyDrift features over 15 maps for you to race with your friends, each has different set-ups as well as upbeat soundtracks. However, there's one similar thing between every map - the magical hoops. Passing through every one of them will grant you a temporary speed boost as well as fill up your mana bar.

Later when your mana bar is full, you can use it to create havoc on your opponents with the characters' specific attacking spells. Or if you're leading and are the target of other racers, use it for your defending abilities and stay on top of the race.

Last but not least, Gensou SkyDrift has totally three single-player modes (Story, Time Attack and Versus) plus a multiplayer option to race with your friends. You can invite up to 7 more pals to race on the others' backs and enjoy the atmospheric soundtrack and character of the long-running Touhou Project.
