Procedural generation can create vast and diverse worlds, providing hours of entertainment and replayability.]]>

Open-world games offer players the opportunity to venture into vast, immersive worlds or even entire galaxies brimming with a plethora of engaging elements, including non-player characters, enigmatic puzzles, diverse landscapes, flora, fauna, and much more. This immersive experience ensures players have countless hours of entertainment at their disposal. However, some game developers take it a step further by incorporating procedurally generated content.

When a game incorporates procedurally generated content, it means that a specially crafted algorithm is responsible for generating content instead of relying on manual creation by individuals. This introduces an element of unpredictability, where there is a 'random chance' for various elements to spawn. Consequently, even previously explored locations may present entirely new experiences when revisited, ensuring that the game remains consistently captivating and fresh.

1. Minecraft

Certainly, Minecraft reigns supreme in this uniquely specialized hybrid category, boasting expansive open worlds for players to roam at their own pace and procedurally generated landscapes that shine as its most prized feature.

Within this sandbox game, players can engage in a diverse array of activities such as crafting, combat, animal husbandry, and mining, providing them with countless hours of enjoyment, and there's always something novel to discover with every playthrough. Thanks to the dynamic nature of procedurally generated content, no two worlds are alike in Minecraft, effectively ensuring the game remains perpetually dynamic and engaging for its dedicated player base.

2. Valheim

Valheim, not for the faint of heart, transports players into a procedurally generated realm strongly influenced by Norse mythology and Viking traditions. Each player is thrust into a distinctive world seed, embarking on a journey of survival through battles and valor.

Players have the option to join forces with up to nine companions, collaborating to forge formidable weaponry that will test their mettle against the formidable foes that inhabit these diverse realms. In this unforgiving landscape, players enjoy the liberty to explore these world seeds at their own discretion, scavenging resources along the way to craft superior gear, ensuring they are well-prepared to confront whatever challenges await them. The uniqueness of each map guarantees that no two playthroughs are identical, resulting in a perpetually rejuvenating and novel experience with every attempt.

3. Tales of Maj'Eyal

Tales of Maj'Eyal is an ideal choice for enthusiasts of intricate narratives, fantasy realms, and the roguelike gaming genre. The game unfolds within a distinctive fantasy realm, gradually revealing its vast lore to players as they explore freely, navigating the world at their own discretion. Each stage is generated procedurally, guaranteeing that players will encounter unforeseen and captivating revelations around every corner.

With a diverse selection of character classes, tactical turn-based combat, and formidable adversaries, the combat experience within this remarkable game is in perfect harmony with its other exceptional features. This ensures that players can expect hours of enjoyable and constantly refreshing gameplay.

4. Superflight

Superflight is a thrilling, high-speed flight game that strikes a balance between excitement and ease of learning. In this game, players can unleash their inner aviator and soar through stunning landscapes filled with vibrant colors and distinctive characteristics, primarily dominated by mountainous terrains. There's an abundance of maps available for exploration, and each one is generated procedurally, ensuring that every flight delivers a fresh and captivating experience.

The gameplay is straightforward yet exhilarating. Players don a wingsuit and launch themselves into these breathtaking worlds, each with its unique and randomly generated design, making every flight a distinct adventure. While navigating through these terrains, players must skillfully maneuver around obstacles, even embracing daring maneuvers for an added thrill. The game keeps track of players' high scores, motivating them to return and attempt to surpass their previous achievements with each subsequent flight.

5. Dorfromantik

If you're seeking a procedurally generated game that incorporates open-world aspects but avoids the presence of monsters or combat, then Dorfromantik is undoubtedly the ideal choice. Its primary emphasis lies in the art of crafting and shaping worlds through the placement of connecting tiles and nurturing life forms.

In Dorfromantik, players can fully unwind as they craft serene and picturesque worlds, establishing tranquil villages and observing the gradual expansion and prosperity of their creations. Additionally, as players advance, they will encounter quests that provide continuous objectives, ensuring an ongoing incentive for return visits and prolonged engagement with the game.

6. Deep Rock Galactic

In this open-world, procedurally generated game, players have the opportunity to invite up to three of their friends to partake in the excitement. They assume the roles of heavily armored and well-armed dwarves embarking on adventures into extraterrestrial realms and caves teeming with menacing creatures. These environments are all dynamically created to ensure that every exploration offers a distinct experience.

Deep Rock Galactic boasts a wealth of gameplay components and additional features designed to captivate players. These include the selection of character classes, intense combat encounters, and a constantly changing lineup of monsters that emerge alongside the unique cave configurations. Moreover, the entire in-game environment is destructible, further adding to the game's dynamic and ever-evolving nature. Consequently, no two journeys in Deep Rock Galactic are alike, and every playthrough is packed with entertainment.

7. Starbound

In another game that takes players on a journey through the cosmos, Starbound presents an expansive science fiction open world that prioritizes survival, crafting, and the inclusion of procedurally generated elements. Upon crash-landing on a planet, players find themselves in a situation where they must scavenge for essential materials needed to repair their spacecraft and escape from the planet's surface. Throughout this adventure, they explore the planet's rugged landscapes and deep recesses, encountering hostile creatures along the way.

8. Elite: Dangerous

Elite: Dangerous transcends being merely an open-world game; it's an open-world galaxy where players can navigate the cosmos in their spacecraft, descending onto one of the countless planets within a faithfully recreated Milky Way. Given the vastness of this game, procedural generation becomes a necessity, as human efforts alone couldn't possibly craft such an extensive universe for players.

<![CDATA[Top 5 Games With Limitless Replayability Potential]]> https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/top-5-games-with-limitless-replayability-potential-22151 Mon, 01 May 2023 03:13:00 +0000 https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/top-5-games-with-limitless-replayability-potential-22151
If you are looking for a single game to put all your spare time on learning, here are the 5 best candidates.]]>

Games with the potential for endless replayability are becoming increasingly prevalent due to the availability of online communities and multiplayer modes. This article highlights several games that offer limitless opportunities for challenges, entertainment, and exploration. There should be a game for you no matter what genre you like: from 4x to open world exploration... to even zombie apocalypse. You only need to purchase the game once to get thousands of fun hours.

In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the top 5 best games with limitless replayability potential.

1. Factorio

Factorio is a game that starts off simple, with tasks such as harvesting coal, iron, and chopping trees. As you progress, you build machines and inserters, connecting everything with conveyor belts. Over time, your factory system becomes so complex that you could not have designed it from the beginning, yet it grew organically, without you feeling overwhelmed.

Fff 310 Factorio Cover 017 Stable
Factorio

The game keeps you engaged for hours as you strive to improve production rates and efficiency. Crafting elements borrowed from modern mainstream games make building less about using money to make money and more about crafting basic resources into usable items. In Factorio, you build a factory-building factory, with the mantra "the factory must grow".

One of the game's exciting features is its twist on the traditional building formula, where crafting is essential to the game's mechanics. As a result, you can't help but feel drawn in as you improve your factory's productivity and create an ever-expanding complex of interrelated machinery. Overall, Factorio is a fun game that is easy to pick up but hard to master, and its replayability potential is very high.

2. Terraria

Terraria is mostly a sandbox game. You start out in a new world with some basic tools but no actual instructions. Over time, you'll build a tiny home to protect yourself from creatures that emerge at night, learn that the world has been corrupted in some way, meet new NPCs, and battle formidable boss opponents. Despite this, there isn't much guidance offered to you because these are just parts of a wider game that let players explore the universe at largely their own pace. The difficulty curve I noted before, which indicates that difficulties thrown at a player start light and steadily climb at a rate easy to handle, is part of the game's excellent design.

Terraria Journeys End
Terraria

Despite the absence of many classic RPG components, there is a distinct leveling system in the form of slain Bosses, which means the gameplay won't get harder if you don't advance through these foes. In truth, the first boss doesn't appear until you have adequate health and armor.

I've spent about equally as much time playing single-player and multiplayer. Single-player holds up quite fine on its own, but in my opinion, playing the game with friends and taking on the monsters together is far more enjoyable because it spreads out the 'grinding' for resources and the satisfaction of accomplishing new goals. It also helps to appreciate the excellent soundtrack, as loud humming is to be expected if you voice chat with your friends.

Enemy design is fascinating and distinctive, including appearances by enormous robotic worms, floating eyes, possessed armor, and a ninja hovering in a slime-filled ball.

3. Rimworld

If you enjoy starting a colony from scratch, Rimworld is perfect for you. It's incredibly dynamic, and there's always something for you to do, whether it's designing a new room for your base, putting up defenses, finding a more dependable food supply, or even raiding rival factions. As there is a lot to learn at first, it can be very intimidating. However, with each new discovery comes a new way to play; your story is always unique and never repeats itself, giving this game nearly infinite replayability. This is all without taking into account the mods, which are plentiful, comparatively simple to create yourself, and extremely popular.

Rimworld
Rimworld

Although there is no predetermined plot, this game is still both tragic and hilarious. Any number of things could happen, such a trader caravan showing up to sell goods just as a raid starts and sparking a violent shoot-out between two large parties outside your base. Then you can take all of their valuables and use the bodies of the dead as food and skin, perhaps for the leather hat you've always wanted.

4. Satisfactory

Satisfactory is a well-scaled factory sim. To make every additional bit of complexity make sense on the overall scope of the game, the game eases you in with just the right amount of simplicity in the beginning. Factory simulations frequently throw you in, teach you a few things, and then let you become overwhelmed by the scope of the task at hand. Satisfactory is the exact opposite; it makes the game much simpler to play and enjoy while gradually adding in greater complexity, depth, and scale.

Ss 969cc0ee250048267ba4cbd6187dbeb93cfd285b Jppw
Satisfactory

It is an open-world building and exploration game for factories. The overall objective is to automate resource gathering and material production by creating networks of construction buildings that will enable you to produce the materials you will need to unlock more buildings and ever-more complex materials to craft, which will lead to bigger and more complex building networks, and so on. More will be said about this later. In order to keep up with demand, you will eventually be obliged to expand your factory to extremely large sizes and bring in resources from far away. The underlying concept is the same as in games like Factorio, however it works a little bit differently here.

The first-person viewpoint is a fantastic option. The top-down, isometric factory simulations frequently come off as excessively distant and sterile. It's quite wonderful to be able to physically visit your factory and stroll around it.

5. Stellaris

Stellaris is a semi-realtime strategic simulator in which you can either succeed in expanding a small planet into a vast galactic empire or fail miserably. You control literally every aspect of your empire: how your government is set up, where your pops live, how they're treated, what they research, what planets they colonize, and how you deal with the galaxy around you. There are some automated aspects when it comes to ship design & planet/sector management, but these are almost always less efficient than player-controlled choices, and thus are best given as little automation as possible.

Maxresdefault
Stellaris

Having said that, the player is continuously being bombarded with a ton of information throughout the game, even enough to occasionally cause seasoned players to make mistakes. A thorough reading of the wiki is strongly advised because the tutorial alone falls short in educating the player for the full responsibilities of running an empire on their own, particularly when it comes to the hidden interactions between qualities, ethics, and research specialties.

The AI itself occasionally behaves strangely and unpredictablely. Everyone has varied thoughts about the AI, with personal skill and playstyle typically having a significant influence. Based on my own experience, depending on the difficulty modifications, the AI can be comparable to an early-mid tier player. They are capable of using fundamental features like colonizing planets, trading, constructing fleets, etc., but they frequently have obvious vulnerabilities that may be exploited. In particular, they frequently struggle with building and maintaining their economies, favoring quick gains over big losses, and panic spamming particular structures in response to resource shortages.

If you have a weak PC but still want to play open world shooter games, these 5 titles are probably the best out there.]]>

Amongst the various genres of PC games, Open World is probably the one with the biggest amount of content per game. However, the inherent attribute of the open world genre is its size... you might need a decent PC to run the newest games.

However, there is still plenty of fun to be had if your PC is a little bit on the weak side. Here are the 5 best open-world shooters for low-end PC in 2023.

1. Borderland

Growing up on games like Quake and Diablo really helped me to appreciate the greatness of Borderlands. There’s been a lot of games that have tried to pull off genre hybrids, but they either fail to deliver or just fail to program a game correctly. Borderlands is one of the few games that manages to feel like an RPG and a FPS at the same time.

Coming from a shooter side, the game is a very fun classic-style shooter, meaning that the realism has been replaced with you getting to unload a clip into someone before dropping them. Sniper headshots can generally take a foe down with one shot, but most all other guns are going to require you to get dirty. It feels an awful lot like a classic Quake shooter too. It’s just action based. Your ‘cover’ system is generally using your strafe and jump at the right time. By all means, this is great for some older gamers since most of today’s games are just striving to hit a certain realistic feel.

Switch Borderlands Handsome 02
Borderland gameplay

The only problem with the RPG element is the characters all feel about the same. My Hunter manages to be a jack-of-all-trades character instead of just a hunter. While I might technically do more damage with a sniper rifle, my dark-orange rare machine gun that does 4x fire damage is going to take down the enemies faster. While these two things are a bit critical, the rest of the action role-playing feels genuine. Looting is fun; leveling up is fun; and having a huge inventory is very nice.

2. Far Cry 2

Far Cry 2 is one of the most immersive games I've played. It's a game I've always considered vastly underrated. I would go as far as to say Far Cry 2 is one of my favorite sandbox games, period.

Far Cry 2
Far Cry 2

Unlike most games, Far Cry 2 tries to remain topical and relevant to current-day events. The game takes place in an unnamed African country. The government has fallen and guns are worth more than human life. You play as one of several would-be assassins sent to kill the Jackal, a notorious arms dealer.

What Far Cry 2 does probably the best out of most sandbox games is it makes you feel like you live in Africa. The game's hud is minimalistic, your health pickups are syrettes of morphine. You're infected with malaria and regularly come down with a fever requiring constant supplies of medicine to avoid dying. Your guns visually decay and eventually break apart in your hands.

Far Cry 2
Far Cry 2 gameplay

The world is beautiful but is always extremely hostile to the player. With long stretches of open land requiring almost constant access to vehicles and guard checkpoints at every corner forcing the player to massacre their way through. I never feel like I'm ever safe or that I'm ever comfortable when playing this game, and it's something that always fascinates me when I play it. I always feel like I'm perpetually on the brink of death in every firefight and I need to just keep pressing on, keep moving forward, and keep my finger on the trigger. There are hundreds of games that look like you're in a warzone, but Far Cry 2 makes you feel like you're in one.

3. Just Cause 3

Just Cause 3 is the most silly, mindless, unrealistic ride of destroying things since "Red Faction: Guerilla". It is to the FarCry-Series like "Saints Row" is to "GTA": a weird but fun parody. The story isn't the reason why people buy Just Cause 3. The plot is a bit lame and even the developers said that it is more of a sandbox-based game and that the story only helps the player get ideas of the things they can do.

The Graphics are outstanding for a game of its time, the vibrant colors and hues of the area really remind the player of a region in the south of Europe. The amazing terrain is backed by the ambient soundtrack that adapts itself to the situation that you are in.

Gameplay-wise, Just Cause 3 really feels complete with the vast array of side missions and encounters, gear mods and collectibles, and all of the vehicles that you can discover and use at your own discretion with the clever idea of the rebel drop. The map is littered with great terrain and features that the player can experiment with, and the controls feel both realistic and snappy.

4. Saints Row: The Third

Saints Row: The Third takes place three years after the previous game. You are the gangleader of the Third Street Saints. The Saints are no longer just a brutal and effective criminal operation but now a fully-fledged media empire with their time split equally between doing dirt and setting up legitimate businesses and a popular line of merchandising.

Saints Row The Third Ps4
Saints Row: The Third

Missions place you in increasingly unpredictable situations. It starts out fairly low-key with a raid on a military base to steal weapons for the gang, but it finishes with an explosive finale involving tanks, jets and city-levelling explosions. In between, there is a zombie outbreak, a trip inside a Tron-like computer world and much more, it gets wilder and more varied.

Saints Row: The Third gameplay

There is also an element of choice in the decisions you make. Certain missions see you choosing between two options that will affect the story, sometimes in quite dramatic ways. The game has a lot of replay value, after finishing the main story you are able to do a lot of side missions, e.g. car-stealing missions and assassinations.

5. Fallout: New Vegas

In Fallout: New Vegas, you are a courier, hired by the Mojave Express, to deliver a package to the New Vegas Strip. What seemed like a simple delivery job has taken a turn... for the worse.

Fallout: New Vegas

Fallout: New Vegas' combat is fun, but also clunky. Shooting, stabbing, bludgeoning, disintegrating, and exploding your adversaries is what you'll spend most of your time doing when not exploring the wastes or having a pleasant chat, and this level of variety is where the strength of the combat lies. Just because it's clunky, doesn't mean there isn't visceral joy to be had. The V.A.T.S. system has also returned, but I don't personally use it. In essence, the combat is just good enough to impress, but modding, which I'll mention later, can improve in considerably.

Fallout New Vegas
Fallout New Vegas gameplay

Story-wise, in FNV there is a plethora of dialogue, choices, consequences, and other roleplaying mechanics to be found. These systems all work together in perfect harmony, which puts real weight behind your actions. Almost every side-quest in New Vegas is spectacular. They were crafted with the utmost attention to detail, as they all have several ways to progress through them; and sincerely thoughtful writing applied to them. Each storyline has a distinct and often original motif, which makes them all a pleasure to play and experience.

<![CDATA[Life Beyond - A New Massive Multiplayer Open-World Game - Releases Its First Trailer!]]> https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/life-beyond-debut-trailer-7991 Sun, 01 Dec 2019 04:40:49 +0000 https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/life-beyond-debut-trailer-7991
It reminds me of a lot of the visuals of Fortnite, but the game has a lot more than just shooting!]]>

Darewise Entertainment has previously teased its new open-world game called Project C. And even through its first images, the game has stolen the hearts of many MMORPG-fans for its aesthetic visuals. Now the developer has decided to officially name their brainchild Life Beyond now, and it will give you the experiences that go beyond your expectations of life on a new planet.

Together with the name change, Life Beyond also gets its debut trailer which shows the key gameplay features as well. The first part of the trailer showcases the independent crew behind the game, but if you're more interested in how the game looks, skip through the 0:38 mark to find out what is good about its exploration.

The concept of Life Beyond

Life Beyond takes the settings of a futuristic world, where the advanced technology has granted humankind access to an exotic planet namely Corvus far away from Earth. As the adventure-seeker yourself, you'll become one of the first people to mark your footsteps on this abandoned planet and build the civilization for your own goods!

The planet of Corvus is rich in ecosystems, which features many kinds of biomes for you to build your dreamland. However, potentials always come together with a lot of challenges, and the scariest things on this land are the hostile monsters that are always ready to ruin what you've done to develop your city.

Become the first citizen on this beautiful planet of Corvus

Hence, you'll have to work with other players to form a strong alliance to stand firmly on Corvus, watching your civilization to bloom!

Gameplay features

MMORPG games don't often go with an epic-scale background story, and Life Beyond is one of those games. However, to make up for its concept, the game delivers a lot of exploration potentials that will probably be your game-to-grind for a while.

To be more specific, Planet Corvus is completely open, which you can freely explore every corner to find the most suitable land to build your own dream city. Taking control over your character through the third-person perspective, you'll wander around multiple ecosystems of this exotic planet to gather the necessary resources for your ambition.

Alongside with the resources, this land is also full of advanced technology from unknown civilizations, which will help you a lot with your constructing progress. And since you can't just live alone on a new planet, you can interact with other players in many ways to accelerate your development.

Life Beyond Debut Trailer 2
Interact with other players to get money and resources

In detail, they include fulfilling contracts that other players have given out for in-game money, as well as offering trades with them to claim the materials, vehicles, tools and weapons you need. Speaking about the weapons, the gunplay in this game looks very similar to Fortnite, where you'll shoot giant monsters while jumping around the colorful landscape. Some might be too hard for a person to handle alone, so don't be shy to invite your friend in.

Life Beyond Debut Trailer 6

And if you want to find a shelter to help you safely build your civilization, Life Beyond features a clan system. It does not only help you grow much faster, but also help other players to form a true alliance both on the scale of economy and military power. Additionally, this feature opens a vision of clan-scale PvP fight as well as raid against monsters, which will end up giving more worthy resources.

Release date and supported platforms

Life Beyond is still under development now, but the developer Darewise Entertainment has regularly held some closed-alpha tests for members on their Discord channel. The game will come out for PC at an unknown date.

Enjoy!

<![CDATA[Crimson Desert, DokeV, And PLAN 8 - The 3 New Games From Black Desert Online Developer All Look Great!]]> https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/crimson-desert-dokev-plan-8-pearl-abyss-new-games-7779 Sat, 16 Nov 2019 03:37:00 +0000 https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/crimson-desert-dokev-plan-8-pearl-abyss-new-games-7779
Pearl Abyss has revealed three new games, including a fantasy MMORPG, a cute creature-collecting RPG, and a shooter!]]>

Pearl Abyss - the Korea-based developer of the famous MMORPG Black Desert Online - has teased the name of three new games at the start of this month. However, on that date, we only have a vague description on those games, and there are no images on how they look like at all.

But today, we finally have a deeper look into those games. To be more specific, Crimson Desert is an open-world fantasy RPG made to tell the past story of Black Desert, DokeV is a vibrant 3D creature-collecting game, and PLAN 8 is the brand new shooter with some RPG elements.

Let's get right into the details of each game to find what is special with Pearl Abyss's newest games!

About Crimson Desert

Starting with the most related one to what Pearl Abyss has been doing well - Crimson Desert is the new game in the 'Desert' series. To be more specific, it refers that the fantasy desert used to be soaking red before turning black - telling the backstory of the acclaimed MMORPG Black Desert. Leading this project will be Jason Lung.

Below is the trailer for the game, which you can have a look:

Entitled "A Saga Written in Blood", Crimson Desert aims to become the next flagship of Pearl Abyss To be more specific, it will portray the story of the mercenary heroes that appear in Black Desert Online, whose destiny will connect at certain points. However, it doesn't mean that you will have to control all of those heroes.

Instead, their story will be told through the eyes of Macduff - son of Martinus and the main protagonist of this game. He is the man of a tragic past, which obsesses him to fulfill the role of the mercenaries leader. However, his responsibilities sometimes require him to sacrifice his men's survive, triggering his sorrowful past even more.

Macduff is the main character in Crimson Desert

Basically, Crimson Desert is a 'next-gen MMORPG' that lets you dive in the single-player campaign rich in quests and characters. On your adventure in this open-world, you can recruits more mercenaries into your group, therefore receive new quests for you to enjoy. The quests sometimes put you into epic raids with huge mythical monsters or other groups of mercenaries and even the powerful beings that hide in the shadow of the royal family.

About DokeV

DokeV is another MMORPG from Pearl Abyss, but it takes completely new settings. The game takes place in a futuristic world, where you become the youngest and most talented creature collectors. You can see what the characters and their strange friends look like through the trailer below:

Pearl Abyss is aiming for the route of Pokemon Go with DokeV, firstly decided to release it for mobile. However, after certain consideration, the game will appear first on PC and consoles for a better experience. The limits of mobile devices don't allow them to create the most gorgeous visuals, so they opt for PC and consoles instead.

Crimson Desert Dokev Plan 8 Pearl Abyss New Games 3
DokeV is the collector of the creatures namely 'Dokebi'

Nothing much to say about this game since the developer hasn't revealed much about its features. So far, we only know that you'll step in the role of DokeV - the collector of 'Dokebi' in this vibrant futuristic open world. However, it's not only about running around and collecting, but DokeV has a lot of playable content for you to explore. Hence, you can expect some investigating quest, Dokebi fighting and more to come.

About PLAN 8

PLAN 8 is the real challenge for the developer that has been dedicated to making RPG games. It's a multi-player third-person shooter that resembles The Division 2 - which mix the intense gunfight with open-world adventuring experience. You can see some of the real in-game footage in the trailer below:

And even with a shooting game, Pearl Abyss still pack some open-world RPG elements in it. As a result, now we have a 'next-generation shooter' that goes beyond what other shooters out there has done. To be more specific, you'll not only bring your gun to the fight but also other equipment like shields or the flying machine like Falcon as well.

Crimson Desert Dokev Plan 8 Pearl Abyss New Games 4
The mechanical arm is not a bad choice either!

Furthermore, the battles in this game are not just straight-forward fighting, but also requires some strategies too. And also, Minh Le - the creator behind the classic Counter-Strike franchise - will be the technical advisor of this game, so you can expect a lot of goods in PLAN 8.

Pearl Abyss has revealed that PLAN 8 will come for PC and consoles first, and mobile devices later.

Are you excited to see more information about these three games?

<![CDATA[Top 10 Open World Games With The Most Expansive And Realistic Maps]]> https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/top-10-open-world-games-with-the-most-expansive-and-realistic-maps-7135 Sun, 10 Nov 2019 03:12:00 +0000 https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/top-10-open-world-games-with-the-most-expansive-and-realistic-maps-7135
Open world games are the new design trend in the video game industry. Here are 10 of the greatest of them all for you to burn several well-spent hours in.]]>

Recent years are the prime time for open-world video games. Every now and then we would catch wind of a video game project that promises vast open worlds with beautiful, lively landscapes, innumerable of sights to explore and things to do, as well as lively inhabitants that you can interact with on the virtual journey. A good open-world video game, from my experience, can get you hooked for countless hours on end.

However, the massive scale of open-world games can be both a strong suit and a fatal weakness. The good thing is that with a massive map in hand that sometimes could take hours to traverse from one end to another you could get an incredibly immersive and satisfying experience of exploring a previously unknown world. Adding that up with good and well-focused gameplay and that game will almost certainly become a hit by giving the players not only enhanced immersion but also greater replay-ability values as well. Sometimes the graphical engine and the details added into an open map by the developers can make your jaws drop. To celebrate this spirit, here are ten of the greatest, biggest, and most realistic open-world games to ever come to the market.

No Man’s Sky

When the game first launched it was considered as a complete disaster and irrecoverable wreckage. The game was missing features left and right as well as its state being riddled with bugs and glitches didn’t help much in its critical reception, either. In fact, the omission of the feature was so great that the game straight out didn’t have a multiplayer mode when it first launched.

However, through the years the developer - Hello Games - had made up for their shortcomings and gradually fixed up the game. First with the addition of a multiplayer mode, then they brought several key features that they promised in the beginning and then some newer ones to the game. If you were to have both versions of the game when it first came out and as it is right now, the differences are staggering.

Maxresdefault 3
No Man's Sky then and No Man's Sky now are two completely different games.

The best thing about the game though is definitely the open-world exploration. The scale of the game is so cosmically (Pun intended) great that it’s outright impossible to completely traverse the game in its entirety. Going from a star system to another is an extremely fun experience in No Man’s Sky and until this date, the game still has one of the most realistic interplanetary travel mechanisms to ever be featured in a video game.

Maxresdefault 4
The space travel mechanism in the game is still among the best depicted in the business.

Grand Theft Auto V

When it comes to open-world no one does it better than Grand Theft Auto.

Fly over impressive landscapes

As a matter of fact, every modern open-world video games will have to give credits to Grand Theft Auto for being the first to kickstart the open-world design trend with iconic classics like Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City. But the franchise simply blew all of the other games of the genre out of the water when GTA V came out.

Dc1400 Grand Theft Auto V World Of Variety
GTA V provides an unprecedented level of details and vibrancy when it first came out.

As someone who has played through the game before, I can say with absolute certainty that Los Santos has the kind of detailed sophistication, detail-rich design, and a degree of polish so high that one area of the map can keep you occupied for hours. The game’s the most realistic GTA Rockstar Games has ever produced and since the game’s been out for quite some time now you can definitely find it for cheap at some points. The cars, the people, and even the locations are fictional, they’re actually based extensively on the real world. For a game that’s all about jacking people’s cars, Rockstar has outdone itself as always.

Grand Theft Auto V Screenshot 02 Ps4 Us 27oct14
Rockstar has clearly outdone itself with GTA V.

Fallout 4

Fallout 4 is a pretty questionable piece even in its own fanbase. There’s a part of the community that liked the narrative-focused approach of earlier games better (Fallout 3, New Vegas). And there’s a part that wholeheartedly embraced the new changes. But no matter the arguments surrounding the game you cannot argue that it indeed has a pretty vibrant and expansive post-apocalyptic open-world packed inside.

Fallout 4 Screenshots 02 E1446715902520
No matter if you like the new direction of Fallout 4 or not, one thing that you've got to give it to them is that they've nailed down the world-building.

In the game, a major tool that you’ll be using throughout your entire journey is the arm-mounted Pip-Boy personal computer. The map function will be of great use to your expedition through the wasteland, exploring the remnants of the Old World before the nuclear holocaust, and of course, peeling back the dark stories behind the sometimes whimsical game.

Fallout 4 Dlc Nuka World New Shot 3
Fallout is a mix of whimsical fun and hilarity ... but dig deep enough and it could tell quite a dark horror story underneath it all.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Though many people are saying that Assassin’s Creed franchise is getting a little bland after ten releases over the years, Ubisoft still continued to surprise us with the latest release being Odyssey. If you’re unfamiliar with the premise of the game, the plotline heavily revolves around an Animus: A high-tech simulation device that can access a person’s genetic memory to relive the memories and experiences of their ancestors.

Https Blogs Images Forbes Com Erikkain Files 2018
Assassin's Creed Odyssey has a world that's larger than anything else to be featured in the franchise before.

Odyssey started during the Peloponnesian War in Ancient Greece. Though the revised gameplay is still a hotly debated change, one thing for sure is that the game offers a greater, more vibrant, and diverse world than any other Assassin’s Creed game that came before. Dialogues are done well and characters got distinct flairs from one another, Odyssey is definitely an open-world game that would be worth diving into if you haven’t done so yet.

With enchanting storyline, beautiful world, great dialogues and character development ... check it out in spite of its shortfalls. You might come to love it.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

As an exclusive on PS4, the game’s probably one of the most easily recognizable games on the console. The thing that makes it stand out the most is the world in-game: Characterised by robotic animals and dinosaurs roaming and running amok on majestic fields and plains in a world where humanity had long ago descended into the apocalypse and reverted back to their primitive past.

Approach 1445968650
The unique and almost alien world of Horizon: Zero Dawn is what makes it stand out most among other games on the PS4.

The protagonist of the game, Aloy, found herself on a dangerous journey to defeat the Machines and thwart a plan to once more wipe the Earth of humanity for good. From the screenshots alone, it’s not difficult to see that the game’s definitely one of the more visually stunning games to be released on the PS4 that took the fullest advantage of the powerful hardware packed inside. The game can still surprise even recurrent players and that’s the reason why I think that if you have a PS4, don’t hesitate to grab the game. You’ll be in for quite a ride.

Horizon Zero Dawn Screenshots3
The game takes full advantage of the PS4's hardware. It's difficult to see a game that's more optimized for the console than Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Forza Horizon 4

Forza Horizon is a well-known series in the racing circle right there next to Need For Speed. But Forza Horizon 4 under the hands of Turn 10 Studios managed to turn into quite a masterpiece with a new open-world system. Packaging that alongside an expanded lineup of new vehicles, dynamic weather, better driving mechanics, and an eye-popping graphical engine and you got a more or less perfect racing game in your hands. Though Forza Horizon 4 is set in a fictional land, the majority of its sceneries are inspired by real-world sights in Great Britain. No other games before could quite match the way Forza Horizon 4 looks and if you’re a fan of the racing genre then definitely check this one out.

Forza Horizon 4spring
Forza Horizon 4's open-world is the greatest entry into the rather stagnant racing genre in a while.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

If there’s a game that’s made by Hideo Kojima then you cannot go wrong buying it. Metal Gear Solid V is a departure from the linear way that stories were narrated in the past Metal Gear games. In the fifth game, instead of having a focused storyline, the plot is scattered all throughout the big open world of the two major maps that Venom Snake can gallivant in: Afghanistan and Central Africa. Open world has never been a thing for the Metal Gear series so some veteran players were disgruntled since it felt like the stories suffered under the open-world treatment.

Mgs Ground Zeroes Screen 9
Expanding the franchise's usual linear narrative out into an open world, some people were disgruntled with the change. That didn't stop MGS V from becoming a massive success, though.

Nonetheless, the game came out as a masterpiece with realism, graphical prowess, and pure fun substantial enough to warrant it as an overwhelming success by critics. If you’re looking for the ‘Tactical Espionage’ atmosphere and realism, do not miss out on MGS V.

Mgsvgz Ss Demo 002 0
Do not miss out on MGS V if you like the tactical - stealth action genre and a realistic atmosphere to boot.

Spider-Man

One thing about games adapted from superheroes is that those game developers rarely managed to do it just right. Spider-Man was one of the few exceptions to that rule first of with the massive open-world environment of Peter Parker’s hometown - New York City - fully rendered and wide open for the players to freely explore. Such are the details of New York in Spider-Man that it’s quite possibly the best video game representation of the game I have ever seen. Touring around landmarks like the Empire State and Central Park felt like you were actually there instead of viewing it all through a TV or computer screen.

Spider Man Ps4 Ledge 1 Trans Nvbqzqnjv4bqvzaa4tddi
Spider-Man managed to simulate New York City perfectly down to a bolt.

There are a lot of things that future generations of open-world games can learn from Spider-Man: Making the world so vibrant and breathtakingly beautiful that for most players even though they were presented with the ability to fast travel many prefer to cross the map the ordinary way to take in the fullest splendor of the Big Apple. It’s a brilliant exclusive to the already rich game ecosystem of the PS4.

Watch Dogs 2

Many call Watch Dogs out for being a carbon copy of GTA. I beg to differ. Yeah, the open world is there and you can also beat people up and drag them out of their cars. But that’s about all of the similarities between the two games. Watch Dogs 2 (And even the first Watch Dogs) allow the players to control the environment around them through technology. You can change the color of the traffic lights with one button, you can open locked doors and gates, tap into surveillance cameras, listening in to people’s conversations on the phone, and even disable their phones altogether.

Watch Dogs 2 Wallpaper 4
It's a world where hackers are at the top of the food chain in Watch Dogs 2.

Aside from the hackings, Watch Dogs 2 got the realism down pretty well. One of the better games that Ubisoft had made in the last few years that’s gone by relatively unnoticed.

Red Dead Redemption 2

And now to the prime game of the open-world genre. Red Dead Redemption 2 has got to be one of the most excellent open-world game to ever be released in the modern era of gaming. After all, the game sold a record-breaking 15 million copies in just about a week after it was released. The game’s storyline was set in the lawlessness of the United States’ Western Frontier in 1899. The world is incredibly rich in detail and visually breathtaking. The developers did their fair share of incentivizing players to explore the vast in-game world through side quests.

Never before has the American Frontier appeared so beautifully in a video game.

Visiting towns and the island of Guarma got a certain thrill and a sense of wide-eyed wonder to it all that you’d absolutely be hooked onto the game for a while.

Red Dead Redemption 2
The charm of Red Dead Redemption 2 is almost irresistible.

RDR2 won hand down the title of being the most realistic open-world game out there. Interested in more of our RPG related top lists? Please check out this list for all the RPGs published by Bethesda.

Open worlds in games are amazing. They can contain a lot of layers for us to discover. But there are places in game that you should not enter in real life.]]>

We love playing video games because they can offer us many things that are not available in real life. In video games, you can fly, shoot, kill the bad guys with your special abilities. But perhaps the most attractive thing that video games offer us is their world. There are many AAA open-world titles nowadays, and those open worlds are fascinating. You guys can literally spend days in that world without feeling bored.

But those worlds are sometimes not ideal places in real life. Those worlds are too dangerous, even for the protagonists of those worlds. In video games, when you die, you respawn. But that does not happen in real life. In real life, you die when you die, no respawning at all, no matter how powerful you are.

That is why we have gathered down here some fascinating worlds in video games that are extremely terrible to live in. Let’s come down to our list right below.

Grand Theft Auto

The world of Grand Theft Auto has always been a replica of the world we are living in. There are a lot of locations in the world of Grand Theft Auto that takes inspiration from locations in real life. We have talked about this.

However, there are a lot more crime and terror in the world of Grand Theft Auto than in real life. Liberty City and Los Santos are always filled with criminals, guns, corrupted politicians, reckless celebs. If you actually think about it, goodness and kindness are extremely rare in all Grand Theft Auto games. You can be driving and chilling inside your car when a total stranger physically stops your car, pulls you out and gives you a series of punches in the face. Then he will drive off your sight while you are lying on the street, nobody bothers to notice and help you.

You will not want this to happen outside your house

If that is not a modern hell on earth, then we do not know what is.

Horizon Zero Dawn

The AI industry has been developing really fast in recent years, so the fear of being taken over by robots is getting bigger and bigger. The AI and robot engineers do not think so (because they still keep working on their projects), but perhaps Horizon Zero Dawn will make them reconsider their decisions.

3079330 Horizonzerodawn E32016 Watchers 1465873622
Please tell me that you have plans to deal with this

Horizon Zero Dawn is the perfect way for AI and robots to take control of our world. Other dark scenarios of the same topic may involve total destruction and havoc due to the wars between robots and humans (the famous Terminator series is a shining example). Those wars will certainly tear down the environment, so the earth will look like a dead planet most of the time. But things are not like that in Horizon Zero Dawn. In this game, the environment is in perfect condition. It is the best weather condition for huge animals – monsters – to roam around. It is also the perfect weather for gamers to feel the vibe of a monster hunt. The only difference here is that you are going to hunt robot monsters.

Horizonzerodawn4
Or this

If you have played Horizon Zero Dawn, you will know that there are no true protagonists of the game. This game is all about hunting robot monsters, and you are going to die a lot. And that is an extremely normal thing in a surviving world like Horizon Zero Dawn. It is highly unlikely that we are going to end up like that, but we don’t think that we can survive six months in that world, even if we have the best tools and weapons.

Fallout

We are in the middle of the post-apocalyptic topic right, so let’s look at the world of Fallout series right now. This is a post-apocalyptic caused by nuclear war, so the environment has been badly damaged. In this terrible environment, the radiation effects left behind by nuclear bombs have turned all animals into monsters. And those monsters are extremely bloodthirsty.

Unlike the monsters in Horizon Zero Dawn, monsters in Fallout are flesh monsters, and they all aim for blood. They either kill each other for food, or they hunt down human. With the new powers from the radiation effects, you guys are going to need huge guns and bombs to take out those beasts.

Fo4 Creatures Concept Art
These ones may be even worse than those in Horizon Zero Dawn

We now do hope that politicians all over the world can take a more serious look at the potential of nuclear war. After having finished the Fallout game series, we can’t be sure that we want to be the survivors in that world.

DOTA 2

Hey, hey, we have to clarify that being a hero in Dota 2 is an extremely cool thing. Living in the world of Dota 2 is terrible only. All heroes in Dota 2 have amazing powers of their own, and those powers are so cool and fascinating that you can play with them all day. And once you die, you just have to wait a few couples of minutes to come back to life. If all those things sound so incredible, why do we list the world of Dota 2 in this list?

The reason is simple: your lives’ purposes are simple. All you do is trying to destroy the enemies’ base. That is it, nothing more than that. That sounds terrible already, and it will be much more terrible when you have all the cool powers, but you can never use them for any other purposes besides trying to destroy the base of your enemies. So, what is the point of living in that world?

This is it, no more

Any Game with Zombies

Yes, we know that we should list this above right below the world of Fallout. But if you actually think about it, not all zombie video games have a post-apocalyptic world. There are a lot of post-apocalyptic worlds filled with zombies like the one from Dying Light, but we can say for sure that the world in Resident Evil is a post-apocalyptic one.

Nevertheless, we can say for sure that you do not want to deal with zombies. At the beginning of a zombie apocalypse, all the people will be extremely panic, so they will likely kill each other first or injure each other to an extremely vulnerable point. That means your chance of staying as a human is extremely low. You can either be killed or be injured so bad that you have no way to defend yourself from zombies.

56438fb8dd0895786a8b458a
We gonna end up like this a lot because we harm each other intentionally

If a zombie apocalypse happens, we recommend a quick and painless death. Staying alive in that world is pure torture, nothing more.

Soul Destiny is a new open-world MMORPG with an interesting soul mate feature that allows you to get married and build a family. It is now up for pre-registration.]]>

Soul Destiny is an upcoming open-world MMORPG for mobile featuring rich and vibrant graphics and immersive sound effects that leave players craving for more.

Not only that, but there’s also a vast and epic fantasy world for players to satisfy their exploration spirits. The best part is, you won’t have to do all that alone. The game includes a soul mate system in which you can fall in love and get married to another character, and even build a family and have kids (in-game, of course). This is undoubtedly a pretty interesting feature that is rarely seen in mobile games.

So far, only two characters have been revealed for Soul Destiny: Siberius, an enthusiastic teenage warrior who wields a flaming sword and Charlotte, an ice mage who has the power of blizzards at her disposal (who oddly enough also wields a sword). Still, we probably can expect more playable characters when the game actually launches.

Controls are pretty standard: There is a virtual joystick on the left side of the screen to control character movements, while on the right are several on-screen buttons to activate skills. It seems there will be multiple boss battles for players to overcome as well.

Aside from that, Soul Destiny also boasts several forms of PvP. There’s the God War mode where players engage in 1v1 duels to increase their ranking, and then there’s the Tri-War mode in which players are put into a camp of 10 and have to compete against 2 other similar camps to achieve victory.

Naturally, all of them will require a lot of work and dedication to master.

Nimian Legends: Vandgels is an upcoming open world game for mobile. An open beta is available for those who want a deeper insight into this game.]]>

We rarely see any open world game on smartphones, most notable of all must be Minecraft Pocket Edition, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, or GTA: San Andreas Remastered. It is the high demand for hardware that makes these games so rare for mid-range smartphones. However, this does not seem to stop other developers from producing these genres for mobile devices, as the upcoming game known as Nimian Legends: Vandgels can now be played in the open beta.

Nimian Legends Vandgels 1 696x392

The game's prequel was the famous Nimian Legends: BrightRidge, which is currently available on both iOS and Android devices. Although the game was not considered as an impressive visual engine or an epic tale that sticks with you for a long time, it was still highly recommended for its open world environment and the locations, which was the most focused aspect of the game. The world in BrightRidge was large, and it offers a variety of hidden locations that act as rewards for exploration. Aside from the game’s multiple locations, the game also features many creatures that make that add some life in the in-game world and also keep you accompanied.

Nimian Legends Vandgels 2 690x388

Nimian Legends: Vandgels’ universe will be further built based on that of BrightRidge’s. Similarly, the game will focus entirely on exploration, and it will also likely feature a deep and interesting story as well.

Exploring mode is currently available in the open-world game’s beta, while the developers are further working on the game’s storyline. However, the beta gives players a pretty good insight of the upcoming game, so it is worth a shot if open world game is on your list of mobile gaming.

It has yet to be confirmed when Nimian Legends: Vandgels will be launched. We will keep you up to date on the news, and in the meantime, stay tuned and enjoy the beta of the game.

Heaven's Vault is a beautiful adventure game that sees you exploring the Nebula to uncover the secrets of a lost civilization. It is coming later this year on PC, console, and mobile.]]>

Developer inkle Studios is known for multiple award-winning hits such as 80 Days or the Sorcery series. Now, after laying in dormant for two years, it is coming back with a new project: Heaven’s Vault. This is a sci-fi archaeological adventure game that perfectly blends the hand-drawn 2D art with beautiful 3D environments. The game was actually first revealed almost exactly a year ago through a teaser that demonstrated how ambitious it was at the time. You can see it below:

The story of Heaven’s Vault sees you following the footsteps of Aliya Elasra and her robotic sidekick Six as they embark on a journey through the Nebula to uncover the secrets behind a long lost civilization. Along the way, you will encounter numerous puzzles in the form of language deciphering. Every time you successfully translate an ancient rune, you will get a new clue that pushes the story forward. However, inaccurate translations might send you down the wrong path.

Heaven Vault

Overcoming these linguistic challenges is not everything. Heaven’s Vault also offers a non-linear experience that allows you to freely explore the world – or one should say, worlds. You will have a chance to visit several planets and venture through a multitude of locations: prosperous farming villages, thriving market towns, ancient ruined palaces, and more. As you do, you will encounter a diverse cast of characters. Some of them are friendly, others not so much, and a few might even try to take advantage of you. The interesting thing is, these characters remember and react to everything you do. This gives more weight to your decisions. Whichever way you choose to go, the story is always moving forward, and there is no turning back from whatever that may happen.

The developer has recently released another trailer for the game, which offers a deeper look into its world and storyline. Watch it here:

Heaven’s Vault is promised to be coming in spring 2019 on PC and various console platforms, with a mobile version to follow soon after.

Recently, there were rumors flying around that developer Bohemia Interactive is making a sequel to Arma 3. However, the company has denied these rumors.]]>

In mid-October, there were rumors that the Czech game developing studio Bohemia Interactive was making a sequel to its shooter game Arma 3. These rumors had many fans excited. However, a representative from Bohemia later denied them.

An Arma 4 is not in development

On October 19, a journalist from Slovakia named Lukas Kanik falsely tweeted that "Our editor is in Bohemia Interactive today. I can now say that Arma 4 is officially confirmed #Arma4 #Arma." Later on the same day, this tweet was deleted. However, some people had already shared this rumor on Reddit. A thread named "ARMA 4 in development, editors are visiting Bohemia Interactive" appeared on the site and attracted 243 comments. Many fans heartily debated and speculated about what features Arma 4 would have, and when it would come out.

Fans heartily speculated on Reddit about Arma 4

However, Korneel van 't Land, Brand and PR Manager of Bohemia Interactive, says that currently the company does not have any plans about an Arma sequel, although it would like to continue developing the series at some point in the future. Right now, the goal of the company is "to keep Arma 3 fresh and exciting for at least several more years."

van 't Land said he did not know what led Kanik to the impression that an Arma 4 was in development. "It’s too early even for us to tell when and in what form the Arma series would continue into the longer-term future. We can already say that we’re not expecting to announce a potential new Arma title in the next years," He said, "This timeline is also related to our goal of having all future Bohemia games run on the new Enfusion engine, which is still in development, and will take time to exceed the standards set by Arma 3 and meet future requirements. Right now we do have concrete plans for a significant amount of support for Arma 3 through a combination of official new content and hopefully third-party DLC content in at least the coming year, and most probably even years."

Right now the developer is focusing on Arma 3

So, it is pretty clear that Arma fans will not be seeing Arma 4 for several more years.

Developer Rockstar has released an official launch trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2. The game is scheduled to come out on October 26.]]>

True to its promise, game developer Rockstar has just released an official launch trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2. This is a highly-anticipated cowbow-themed open world game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Offical Launch Trailer

Fans will not have to wait much longer, though, as the game is scheduled to be released on October 26. It will be available on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, like its predecessor, Red Dead Redemption 2 also doesn’t have a PC version. Moreover, there is no official information on whether the game will ever come to PC either.

For those fans that do own a console, the trailer gives them a taste of what is awaiting them in this vast world of the wild west. The story follows the footstep of Arthur Morgan, a member of the Dutch Van der Linde outlaw gang. The events of Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in 1899. This makes the game a prequel to Red Dead Redemption, which is set in 1911. The trailer gives hints of a classic Western story with crimes, rivalry, loyalty, gun fights, and more. In it, we can see Dutch and Arthur talking about “one more big score” before they have enough money to leave. It can be speculated that the gang might be fighting for their survival against the American government who is trying to wipe them out.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is certainly a big hit, literally. As we reported before, the game has over 500,000 dialogue lines as well as 300,000 animations. To make it, Rockstar had to hire 1,200 actors for motion capturing, 700 of whom also participated in voice recording. With all this, the game will take up 90GB of your hard drive space.

According to previous information from Rockstar, Red Dead Redemption 2 will have various new features. Now, you will have the ability to customize your weapons. Similar to Grand Theft Auto 5, the game also has an online multiplayer mode called Red Dead Online, which is expected to come out in November.

One of the producers of Red Dead Redemption 2 shared some shocking numbers about the making of the game in an interview.]]>

Harold Goldberg, an author for several popular magazines including The New York Times, Vanity Fair, The Atlantic, The Washington Post etc. recently had an interview with Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games regarding the company’s upcoming hit Red Dead Redemption 2. In this interview, Houser shared several notable numbers.

The first thing Houser talked about was how intense the production process of the game was. He said that there were several occasions in 2018 where they had to work 100 hours a week. This statement later caused a backlash. Many people accused Rockstar Games of overworking their employees. Against this, Houser had to clarify that he was referring to a few members of the senior writing team only, including himself and 3 others.

He claimed that they had all been working together for over a decade and they always had to work very hard for a few weeks towards the end of every project to finalize everything. He stressed that they “don’t expect anyone else to work this way”. Those senior members who worked extra hours did so completely of their own volition. “No one, senior or junior, is ever forced to work hard”, he said.

Image result for red dead redemption 2

Still, with that much work and dedication, there is no doubt that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a massive project. The game reportedly contains 300,000 animations, and there are 500,000 lines of dialogue. It estimately has a duration of 65 hours. That is with about 5 hours of content already removed, including a potential love interest for the game’s protagonist, Arthur Morgan. Houser said that the writers originally intended to have to possible love interests for Morgan, but one did not work. Besides that, the developers also removed some missions because they seemed unnecessary, or not smooth enough, or had technical difficulties.

Of course, the 65-hour duration is only an estimation. Everyone has their own playstyle, and some will take longer than others. Furthermore, Red Dead Redemption 2 also has a multiplayer mode. This mode apparently has many things for players to do after they have finished the main story.

Image result for red dead redemption 2

According to Houser, game making is a shifting process, things are always changing. Developers rarely talk about this process, especially one that holds a high position in a company as secretive as Rockstar.

From the interview, it seems that the final script for just the main story of Red Dead Redemption 2 was already 2000 pages. The developers also reportedly hired 1,200 actors for motion-capturing. Amongst those actors, 700 also participated in dialogue recording. Houser claims that when it comes to sheer number, Rockstar employs more actors than any party in New York by a large margin.

Image result for red dead redemption 2

Houser also said that there might be a Red Dead Redemption 3 in the future, but he is not making any promise just yet. Rockstar Games will only consider doing it if this second entry is successful and they have more ideas.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming out on Octorber 26 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The multiplayer mode, called Red Dead Online, is scheduled to launch in November. According to Houser it will be "as robust as Grand Theft Auto Online."

The Elder Scrolls 6 - all about its release date, news and rumors.]]>

The Elder Scrolls 6 has kept us waiting so long to have any updated information relating to its official release date. However, the reveal of Bethesda’s director Todd Howard in the E3 2018 conference that “The Elder Scrolls 6 is in development” has generated a huge applause from the audience.

Image result for elder scrolls 6

Many questions have been raised after a 37-second teaser of this game: When is it released? Where will the title of this latest game be set? Or what else could we know about this game?

All the rumors, questions and updated news about the Elder Scrolls 6 were summarised in this topic “Things to know” for your knowledge.

Key points

1. What do you know about this game?

It is the next version of the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which is highly expected at the moment

2. When is the game released?

Not sure, but certainly not tomorrow or next week.

3. Where could I play it?

The best choice is the PC, or are other latest console generations

Elder Scrolls - The official release date

We have been waiting too long to find out when we can officially play this game. And not until recently did we receive the confirmation in Bethesda’s E3 2018 conference that the game is in progress now. However, with just a logo and a vague announcement, we never know what the release date exactly is.

According to Todd Howard, it might come after Starfield, which means that we will be looking forward to its launch in unidentified years after.

Elder Scrolls - Trailer

If you search the trailer of Elder Scrolls 6, you will see a very short clip with only 37 seconds introducing the logo of the game. For more information, you might need to wait until the next E3 in 2019, or, if you are lucky enough, you could find somewhere the leaked information of this highly-anticipated game.

Elder Scrolls 6 - News

Bethesda is an American video game publisher in Maryland. Its main Role-play video games (RPG) franchises are Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Besides, they also widen their business extend to mobile games, Dishonored, Prey and so on.

The Fallout series and the Elder Scrolls series are the two big projects which Bethesda has been working on, though their developments haven’t made much progress.

Coming back to Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim after a while, Howard felt like meeting an old friend from high school, which gave him the opportunity to assess it as a gamer who plays for the first time. And all this new perspective should be applied to the following titles in the Elder Scrolls series. One thing we could say for certain, this latest title shall not only be called Elder Scroll 6, but it will also be attached with a word going after the colon.

Elder Scrolls 6 – Where it will be set?

One common question is also raised from this game, where will it be set? There is no certain evidence, but based on the previous games of the series, we could guess that the game will probably still be set in the continent of Tamriel whose map is illustrated as below:

Related image

If you have ever played the series, then you will never forget that we have been taken to Highrock, Morrowind, Hammerfell, Cyrodil and most recently Skyrim. The high possibilities for the location of Elder Scrolls 6 could be Valenwood, Elsweyr, or Black Marsh. And the remaining areas of Morrowind which haven’t been explored yet might appear in the Elder Scroll Online.

However, among Valenwood, Black Marsh and Elsweyr, which destination could win the prize? Many people bet on the Black Marsh which is the home of the reptilian Argonian race all over the world. The reason for this voting majority shall be its geographic forms including unique swampy marshlands and a variety of islands. It is also probably due to the fact that this area is less known than others in Tamriel, which could stimulate the creativity of the designers to make the game more interesting and attractive.

Image result for elder scrolls 6

Anyway, no information is official up to now, therefore, some people also turn their guess to Elsweyr, known as Khajit’s home, because of its harsh areas with dry plains and terrible badlands. The combination between the totally different cultures of Khajit and Argonians could somehow become an appeal to the audience.

Or some people think of Valenwood, the home of the Bosmer, as similar to Black Marsh, Bethesda hasn’t put much effort into exploring this area yet.

The origin of these rumors could be from a reported internal memo of Bethesda in 2014, which prevented the employees of Bethesda from using the terms Fallout: Nuka world, Elder Scrolls VI or Project Greenheart.

The rumor seemed to be neglected at the beginning, however, that Fallout: Nuka World became DLC for Fallout 4 made it more trustworthy. In addition, as Greenheart is the name of a city in Valenwood, people strengthen their belief that it is the codename for Elder Scrolls 6.

Forests and jungles haven’t been exploited in the previous titles of this series, which makes it more interesting to see how Bethesda build up in the part of Tamriel without civilization and covered with the wilderness.

In fact, the short trailer of the game might bring the hint of the official location used. However, with just 37 seconds and a large area with no sign, we could just guess that it looks more like Valenwood or Elsweyr than Black Marsh.

Todd Howard announced in an interview with Eurogamer that the team completed choosing the venue, but the accurate name hasn’t been revealed yet.

Elder Scrolls 6 – What new features will be there?

A totally new story

Image result for elder scrolls 6

Howard mentioned in one recent interview that Bethesda is reviewing and coming to the final decision on how the stories will be told in its games.

The approaches to stories in the predecessors Skyrim and Fallout 4 were a little bit different, while Skyrim creates everything to be more open to the vision of players, Fallout leads them through a more concrete storyline.

Discovering both positive and negative sides of these previous games, the next Elder Scrolls title could gain the balance in storytelling method which gives the players a free rein to tell their stories. Howard also described that they would tell a better story in an open world, he admitted the success and failures from previous products and believed that those experience will bring new ideas for the next ones.

The Witcher 3 is an example of telling stories in an open world, but the fans never want to have a duplicate of this version to the latest Elder Scrolls title, which put a high pressure on Bethesda to overcome the success of owning high-quality environmental and quest-based story telling.

The fans also do not expect multiplayer for this game. Skyrim has gained the success without multiplayer and Elder Scrolls online has been rolling along, which raises a question whether this latest title in Elder Scrolls series is in need of multiplayer or not.

Virtual reality

No one can confirm the usage of Virtual reality in this latest version, however, there is a possibility, as Bethesda applied a full VR to Skyrim.

Image result for elder scrolls 6 vr

Homebuilding

House building or town creation is a quite popular feature in any games.

In Skyrim, we could see a homestead with its Heartfire DLC. In Fallout 4, it is the expansion of this model with the mechanic settlement. And then, we could look forward to a further development of these features in the Elder Scrolls from the likely uncompleted design in the previous games’ version.

Image result for elder scrolls 6

The Elder Scrolls title will orient to environmental nature, which is similar to the way player use debris and junk to build their home in Fallout, they could also take the advantages of those environmental elements to implement in Elder Scrolls.

Elder Scrolls 6 – Rumors

It is rumored that the word coming after the colon which attaches with The Elder Scrolls 6 might be Redfall.

Redditors gives the hypothesis that the name traces back to either the Redfall in Tamriel or the Redguard race in Elder Scrolls. However, there hasn’t had any official information about this name.

Elder Scrolls 6 – What could we expect?

To meet the long waiting of all fans, we hope to see a completed game with better graphics and a decrease in bugs’ appearance.

In comparison with the very first title of Skyrim in 2011, its remastered version has taken a long step forward with much better graphics, which is exactly what we expect for the following titles in the series.

It is believed that a new game engine could be implemented to create a new game, similar to the way they created Skyrim, and we look forward to seeing the same creation to be applied to Elder Scrolls 6 or any upcoming Fallout titles.
